Economy Energy did star in the 16 October 2018 Which? report:
https://www.which.co.uk/news/2018/10/the-small-energy-firms-with-the-big-price-rises/
"The biggest increase was from Economy Energy. Its bills rose by 38% for customers who use a medium amount of gas and electricity."I have osteoarthritis in my hands so I speak my messages into a microphone using Dragon. Some people make "typos" but I often make "speakos".0 -

MSE who swiftly produced a press release setting out the difficulties;
There is another thread running with Eversmart who are trying to pull the same stunt. Could you advise on the details of the press release above and who you contacted in MSE?0 -
Hi,
I switched away from Economy Energy on 12/10/18, due to
their astronomic price increase.
They now owe me over £500 credit, and I cannot get them to
sort it out.
Just spoke to their Complaints Supervisor, Tom Palmer,
who stated that the company cannot give me a timescale
for when I will get this credit back. After waiting 3 months now,
their ongoing response is unbelieveable.
Has anyone else had the same problem?
I will certainly not entertain using this company again, no matter
what their prices are.

Issue customer refunds for credit balances. It must do this within 28 days of receiving a refund request, or within 14 days of today's order, whichever is later – or explain why the refund is not reasonable.0 -
Well, well, well, after all of our battling to hang on to our fixed rate tariffs a few months back, Economy Energy have gone bust so we're all now on the lookout for a new tariff. Its a shame as the tariff was really good once we actually got them to honour it but not much we can do about it now.A big believer in karma, you get what you give :A

I wonder what the application date is for the change of tariff from old supplier to new supplier. Presumably, the existing fixed tariff applies until the day when a contract with the new supplier is formed.
Yes, money was saved at the end of the day but I spent a lot of my time in getting Economy Energy to behave in accordance with its licence, its contract and proper accountance practices. OFGEM, MSE, Which? and Citizens Advice Extra Help Unit were brilliant.
MP, Dame Caroline Spelman, ignored my letter.
The Ombudsman cannot step in to deal with a company that is behaving incorrectly for many weeks.I have osteoarthritis in my hands so I speak my messages into a microphone using Dragon. Some people make "typos" but I often make "speakos".0 -
BTW, check your final bills people. I logged in and downloaded copies quickly before they try and stop access. I noticed that they have massively overestimated my latest readings making me in debit on my account. Not happy!A big believer in karma, you get what you give :A
