Had another email yesterday form EE
YOR TARIFF IS CHANGING ON 14/09/2018
YOU RECENTLY CONFIRMED THAT YOU WOULD LIKE TO CHANGE YOUR GAS AND ELECTRICITY TARIFF etc etc
and all new details.
AFTER picking myself OFF the ceiling saying OH NO not again, realised it is the current one, RE confirmed and now finishing 13/9/19 So a small extension from june.
Switch Saver [honoured]
[The T's and C's say price it is fixed until the end of Tariff. Prices may increase at anytime. Rest assured if our prices change we will give you 30 days notice.
Cheers Andy0 -
It all seems a very haphazard response to the crisis and customers... I got called yesterday from Durham with them begging me to call off my switch... I explained to them I already had because they were honouring the Switch Saver terms I thought I was signed up to... and their reply "oh yes.. I see that on your account now"."Do not attribute to conspiracy what can adequately be explained by incompetence" - rogerblack0

Now had an E mail back from OFGEM following my Whistleblower.
Advised that all what has now happened between me and EE is going to happen.
That is confirmation of FIXED etc etc.
See below:-
Thank you for contacting Ofgem.
An energy supplier is not able to increase a fixed tariff. In this case, Economy Energy advertised their tariff as “fixed” by mistake, and will not increase the price of anyone who can prove they received a “fixed” offer.
Economy Energy have been/should be in touch with affected customers who were provided with incorrect tariff information at the time of signing up to honour the fixed price for the period of the fixed term.
I hope this has been helpful.
Kind Regards,

Thank you, Andy, for posting this. Your response is interesting because I had maintained that they had advertised the tariff. That is why Economy Energy came up in the transfer agent's site when I ticked the fixed only question. Notwithstanding that was an "invitation to treat" they went on to contract by way of their Welcome Letter.
In my case, I have heard nothing following my formal complaint. There are three working days for Economy Energy to respond. I am continuing to follow through other courses of action.I have osteoarthritis in my hands so I speak my messages into a microphone using Dragon. Some people make "typos" but I often make "speakos".0 -
I too now have a similar response from OFGEM. It is very pleasing that the regulator has engaged with consumers. Still waiting for Economy Energy to respond.I have osteoarthritis in my hands so I speak my messages into a microphone using Dragon. Some people make "typos" but I often make "speakos".0

SterlingTimes posed the question of whether a credit balance with a former energy supplier is protected in the same way that the balance would be protected if a supplier ceased trading while you are a customer. I asked Citizens Advice Bureau. The answer appears to be that you are protected - see quotation from the CAB reply:
"Your Rights and Obligations:
Credit balances are protected for past and present customers of a supplier.
However for customers that have already left a supplier, when a credit balance is on the account and the supplier ceases to trade, it can occasionally take longer to refund this amount as often the accounts are prioritised by the Supplier of Last Resort and they deal with each account individually. "
So anyone concerned about leaving EE while owed money by the company should not be deterred.0 -

Thank you, Alanb, for your valuable posting. This is reassuring.
I will stay with Economy Energy for now given that the safeynet kicks-in in most circumstances where a consumer may lose out if an energy supplier should become insolvent or has its licence terminated.
Economy has two working days remaining to respond to my first round complaint, but letter from OFGEM is helpful. I am still awaiting advice from MP, CAB, Which? etc. although they have probably been helping out in the background.I have osteoarthritis in my hands so I speak my messages into a microphone using Dragon. Not heard back from my complaint yet.....
However - GREAT NEWS - my tariff has now been updated to Switch Saver (honoured). I've been logging in daily to check it so really please to finally see it.
Over the moon with this especially given Martin's weekly newsletter and recent news about all companies increasing their rates. Fingers crossed the rest of you guys get sorted now.A big believer in karma, you get what you give :A
If you find my posts useful, "pay it forward" and help someone else out, that's how places like MSE can be so successful.0 -
There is just tomorrow as the last working day for Economy Energy to respond to my complaint.
The complaint process does not provide for their not responding.
Step 1: Make a complaint
The first step is to make your complaint:
You can contact us by calling on 0333 103 9053, Monday to Friday (9am–5pm)
Email us on customer.complaints@economyenergy.co.uk
Write to us at: Customer Complaints, Economy Energy, Friars House, Manor House Drive, Coventry, CV1 2TE
Most issues are resolved at this stage and we will respond to you within 10 working days, as well as keeping you informed throughout.
I presume that in the event of no response, I move this on to Step 2. I would then interject into the complaint the letter that I received from OFGEM setting out how Economy Energy should act in relation to the fixed tariff.I have osteoarthritis in my hands so I speak my messages into a microphone using Dragon. Some people make "typos" but I often make "speakos".0
