It's raining here, gently, the garden could do with it.

Daily stuff done, including hoovering the whole house as mrfluffykins has but black fur all over the place in little clumps!

    Checked bank account

Had 2 eby sales :) both need to be paid for, but I have wrapped them up ready to post.

    Sorry about your finger, Dancemum.

Good on the loft clearance, Lamewolf.

A very strange day yesterday. I'm involved in a campaign and yesterday was a big day. I got a round of applause after putting a question to an MP, as well as another MP telling me it was a brilliant question (I knew it was worth asking, but not that good!), did a bit to camera which was used on the local Spotlight programme (along with a fabulous rant from someone I totally and utterly respect but don't know terribly well, so that's lovely), and then had to race up to the vet hospital with Kelpie who had a fit that lasted about 30 minutes just as OH was about to put the fish and chips in the oven. He's never fitted before so we didn't know what had caused it, and it looks most likely that it's neurological because the blood test came back normal so it wasn't toxicity. Huge bill (thank goodness he's insured, thank you RS*CA and P**Plan), overnight in the animal hospital and a 6.50 am call this morning to discharge him. He's conked out completely right next to me. I'm utterly exhausted by the emotions of it all.

The plumber has phoned to confirm the CH system will be drained on Monday, new valves put on all the radiators and then refilled and set running overnight to circulate chemicals throughout it, and then it will all be drained down again on Tuesday and the new boiler installed. I hope it goes smoothly becuase after being empty for weeks we've now got guests booked right through to mid-November - from Monday!

I might have to to do serious titivation having got a bit lax because it's just us, although with someone doing dusting and vacuumming once a week I can concentrate on the bathrooms and kitchen for a couple of hours over the weekend and it won't look too shabby.

And I've now got 10 pages of notes to type up and the tax return is still outstanding. Going to be a busy weekend.
    Better is good enough.

flung some washing on line and got it dry enough to iron.
cleaned oven and ironed all stuff from in the week plus some of today's; will do rest when maiden emptied. Shirts/blouses airing on hangers in a window.
Cleaned oven; racks and trays now in DW.
Cleaned plastic strip from bottom of shower screen.
Don't put it DOWN; put it AWAY

  • Had a lie in today.

Scooted round picking up bits that I've overlooked. Emptied upstairs bins. Put limescale remover in loo and left to work.

Felines fed and currently adding to the Little Box of Evil, despite the back door being open. Madame Fluffyknickers has had a huge clump of Herb Robert seeds removed from her shoulder floof, much to her delight (as long as I don't touch the Sacred Tummy or Holy Paws, it's all ATTENTION AND I LOVE IT in her little fluffy mind). Once she has done with her visit to the LBoE, I'm sure she'll be back off outside to drink green water, mow a tiny section of 'lawn' and replace them.

One load of washing up soaking in very hot water.

    Dill and Chives watered.

    Very strong cuppa underway.

Will have to get on with stuff in a minute, but i'm really feeling the first week back at work physically. so I've got to take it slowly.

    I need to;

Do washing up/putting away. 3, possibly 4, sinkloads.
    Clean counter & sink.
Sweep/vacuum downstairs & empty the vacuum cleaner. Still expressly forbidden from mopping by Himself after my fall/hip injury.
Do 2 washloads & sort out work clothes for the week.
Rearrange throw and cushions on settee. But Madame Fluffyknickers is back from the garden inspection and purring happily on them at present, so I'll let her be for the moment.

Swish around bathroom and shower room to clean sinks, loos and floors.

I should probably change the bed linen and put the old stuff in the wash/get it dried, folded and put away.

I could do with getting a box of Oven Pride and doing that overnight, but that involves going to a shop about 250yds further along the road than normal and I'm already having difficulty psyching myself up to go and get some food from the nearest shop.

Extras (which probably won't get done):

    Put some clean clothes away.
Sort out gibble on coffee table, cat food cupboard counter and kitchen table.
Get the SC out of the cupboard.
Sort out a bag of Stuff.
Clean mirrors and TV Stand/Speaker Stand.

Oh yeah - and I need to eat.

Dancemum my sympathies on the finger - I had my index finger flare up a couple of weeks ago and I'd forgotten how much it's a nuisance, but I was lucky in that repeated applications of Voltarol Gel made it ease off after a few days.

Himself has been given a provisional discharge date of the first week of October for FIL. Can't see it happening if they think he's going to just go back to his old flat, as he simply cannot manage alone and OH would have to sleep in the bath (as FIL wouldn't be able to use it anyway, I suppose that's not beyond the realms of possibility, but I'm pretty sure that the Rehab Team won't think that's acceptable any more than I do). Himself needs to get somebody from the team alone and explain to them exactly how unacceptable/unsuitable the living conditions are, as they're obviously being told by FIL that it's all fine and there will be no problems - but they are nowhere to be seen during visiting hours.

But, on the more positive side, at least they're talking in weeks rather than months in terms of improvement and Himself has caught up with a school friend who is guestlisting him for a gig tonight, so he is doing something for pleasure, rather than obligation.

HB I do hope Kelpie is alright; what an awful scare, for him and for you.

Dancemum sympathy re the finger; the arthritis in my hands has flared up good and proper; I could literally cry with the pain.

Plans for garden tidying have had to be put on hold; it's raining. :(

Not to worry, there's plenty more that wants doing indoors; I need the place presentable for Monday evening, as I have a one-year-old Beagle coming for a meet'n'greet visit.

Also - soaking two roasting tins that I found on the top of the pan rack, having been put up there UNWASHED.

Cats have swapped over, so now unable to sort out the throw/cushions until Idiot Cat has woken up. And don't have the heart to terrify them with the vacuum cleaner.

Lots of wet dog snogs for Kelpie HB. One of my dogs has seizures occasionally, so I know how upsetting it is for everyone. Fingers crossed it was a one-off xxx

I have 10 dogs in my house...

    It smells funky...
  • So after being crazily busy with work this week (mostly away from home) I need to get the house back to some semblance of normal before the next crazy week starts.

My to do list (only putting it up now as it was really important I spent the day with Pickle, but he's now playing with his trains, I'm catching up on diaries, bake off and writing my list

    Change our bed
    Wash all washing
    Hang all wet washing up
    Put all dry washing away
    Meal plan
    Shopping list
Food shop (could be an issue once Pickle is in bed)
Sort pickle's train into new, enormous, box
Vac pack spare bedding (when dry)
    Tidy dining room
    Unpack from being away
    Recycling and rubbish out
    General tidy round the house.

    Wish me luck!!

    Wow!

Thank you everyone for kind thoughts for Kelpie. He's pretty much slept all day, had a massive groom by me, althouth I still need to do his front neck ruff and the inside leg of his trousers. He's just woken up, been for a short walk and comfort breaks and had a meal. We're settling down for another couple of hours and then I've got to go out but fortunately only to the neighbours, so I can pop back and check up on him every so often.
