I am stuck in a conference centre bedroom with no channel 4!!! (No GBBO spoilers please!)

I left Home at 6 am, when I left my house looked like a device had exploded. It was soooo nice and tidied before hubby came home on Saturday and parents descended yesterday.

Hello everyone, I'd like to join you if I may! We're just coming to the end of building work and the house is a complete tip, dust everywhere and everything displaced. One of my new year's resolutions (I start my new year in September - too long in education!) is to have a cosy home. It's currently like a scrap yard.

Off to make a start on our bedroom!

As predicted I didn’t get much done last night and I didn’t get to spin, I am going to crack on tonight as not walking the dog with my friend tonight so we can go straight out after work and dinner is a simple chuck in oven job. looking forward to a normal night!

Whoops! I caught up with the Fred first thing and forgot to post. :o Still, for once I haven't wasted my morning...

DD went to school on the bus to gain her "rightful" place as Y11, over the new Y7s who might have been delusioned yesterday that they were entitled to sit at the back....

The upside to that has been that I have flapped since 7am, and can tick off most of the list for today. I have also cleaned the bathroom, but not the ensuite, so yesterday's list also has a dent in it. *feeling smug, but know that it will be short lived*.;)

I have to take DH to the horsepiddle later this morning, then I probably ought to hit Mr M for this dreaded party this weekend.

Welcome to the gang, Courgette

Welcome Courgette! It sounds to me as though you need to join us on Hovel to Haven (H2H for short). It's a new idea this year that basically we came up with because some of us realised that we'd been plodding away for years trying to get rid of the accumulated dross and crud that had gathered over decades (in my case) which we just couldn't face living with forever. The idea is to allow a whole year to deal with some fundamental problems that don't get dealt with by just plugging away at the dusting-type flying.

In my case one of the things it's made me do is to seriously review whether or not I need to keep valuable-ish items I inherited that have been in the family for at least three generations. Turns out I don't feel as emotionally attached to some of them as I thought so: *fling* but in a controlled kind of way, sending them to specialist auction houses etc. Very, very liberating.

I think dealing with builder's dust and detritus is an H2H project in itself, and if you give yourself a realistic deadline, months away (Christmas?) you'll know it isn't going to last forever.

Box of frozen beef in red wine and mushroom sauce decluttered to the butchers who swapped it for a pile of bones for Kelpie. Yesssssssssss. Purple pansies at a bargainacious price found at local pile 'em high and sell 'em cheap price scruffy shop, even cheaper than the dreaded Trago, further discounted by the chap who controls these things because they were beginning to fade. (Oh my paws and whiskers, can't have less than perfect pansies, can we?!)

Just about to crack on with yet another set of minutes so that I can feel virtuous.
    Better is good enough.

Thanks Honeybear! I'll check out H2H, sounds worth investigating. My issue is that there's just too much still to do for KonMari-ing which is all about the decluttering but I've also kind of given up on the place because there's just so much to do. Dusting definitely needs to happen, but so does insulating the cavity under the living room. With the weather turning I can't honestly work out which is the biggest priority.

Anyway today I tidied and cleaned some of our bedroom and DH is currently downstairs sanding worktops so that's not a bad first day!

Honeybear, would you mind posting a link to H2H, I can't find it on old style or on a Google search. Thanks :)

    Evening all :D

    Tiny started school today :j

DH and I went off to have a pamper morning in celebration and to relax after a truly manic summer.

Dog boarding business seems to be flying. I've got two dogs staying for a minimum of two months while their owner searches for and buys a house and another three at the weekend, with a fourth having a stay and play on the Sunday in preparation for a holiday with me next month.

Consequently, I have a layer of dog hair throughout the ground floor that has to be hoovered up tomorrow!

I've done some ironing tonight, but that's about it :rotfl:

Catch up later - welcome to all the new flyladies :)
