Got major IT issues to sort out and vast amounts of making things look pretty, but completely knackered, couldn't eat the provided food because it was VILE and made me feel sick just walking in, not one fruit or vegetable to be seen, and going without the stick meant I could feel my legs wobbling on the walk home.

The moment I walked in the door, Himself called. He's had an afternoon out with friends and is now off to see his Dad at the unit. Could hear him getting more upset towards the end of the call than usual, but he's got lots of people around him.

I have cats around me. Not that they care.

I will be cooking up some things for immediate snacks, a bit of dinner + cleaning up and then I am doing nothing.

  • First day was fab, thanks for all the well wishes :)

DH was home in good time which was just as well, as we ended up looking after my 1 year old nephew for a couple of hours at tea time. The DW is on, WM has been on, TD now on (it’s raining here), kids clothes and bags out for tomorrow, blackberry and apple compote made.
Cuppa and early night now xxx

Aaannnddd finally I get to sit down....

    Happy anniversary, HB.

So pleased that you had a good first day, ATB.

Not a lot achieved here, beyond a load of washing, and the dw is now running. The plum crumble managed to explode over the bottom of the oven, so that had to be cleared up as well. I need to get a list sorted for tomorrow or nothing will happen then either.
  • Himself had to stop talking to me and hang up because his Dad lost all his words tonight and talking about it was getting him upset. He knows it's largely because he's tired from the physio and rehab exercises, but it's the first time he's only seen him in the evening, rather than mid afternoon, but he started talking about realising how long it's going to be to recover (and probably feeling guilty that he's seen a couple of friends and not been thinking about it for a while).

I know there's good reason for having set visiting times to allow for undisturbed meals and treatment, but cutting it down to when they're tired makes it harder for relatives, as they only see their family member when they're least able to manage a conversation.

Ugh. It's a week tomorrow since I last saw him. It feels like forever.

    I’m in, thanks x

Towels washed plus 4 more loads

Paperwork tackled, printed out 2 annual statements for DH newish work pension. Figures don’t match p60s so will have to get him to contact them.

Phone call made to the dreaded 16+ benefit transfer team.

    Lunchbox and pencil case washed

Struggling with back spasms this evening. I have to pick ds1 up from the station soon. Hope I make it as I don’t want to get DH up as he works early in the morning. I have tried a bubble bath, ice and some non drowsy pain killers. (Not asking medical help ;) )

DS2 has had a big meltdown and threw lots of stuff around including my files. A game set him off combined with back to school prep.

Evening all. I'm back - and have just caught up with 2 weeks' worth of Flylady - but don't expect that I shall manage much flying from the official list this week: my own to-do list is enormous and I'm working towards a deadline of 14th Sept on a lot of things

Many congratulations to HB and Mr Bear, and I hope you've had a very happy anniversary

Thanks to HB and Fayolle for worrying that I was missing. I went by train to Durham for a conference over the long BH weekend, then DH drove up with Rosie and we had 6 nights in a self-catering "cottage" (a converted double garage - very much nicer than it sounds) in a village near Durham. I managed not to use the microwave or oven, only used the hob for boiled eggs and the toaster for an occasional slice of toast, and we had some very nice meals out. We have visited some lovely places. DH has found walking very difficult, but I have taken Rosie out for a couple of brisk walks most days and she has had a good time too - though she is clearly delighted to be home now, especially as it was a very long drive today. I really needed that break :)

Welcome to newbies Jilly, chocolatelover and Justforme, and also to Valli's great-niece :T
Glad to hear your new job has started well, atb. GWS to your DS.
Narc0, I'm jealous of your baby fairies!
Jojo, take good care of yourself. GWS vibes to your FiL.
Glad you enjoyed your doggy visitor, LW.
Congratulations on your new voluntary job, Kaz :T
HB, you will soon have the haven you long for - your yard transformation sounds exciting, and your new cleaner is clearly a treasure :D
dancemum, I hope your back feels less painful soon, and that your DS2 makes it back to the youth club on a regular basis.
Hope you're feeling better too, pigpen.
Happy new school year to all Flykids and Flygrandkids, and coping vibes to all school staff.

I will sign off quickly before today becomes tomorrow :rotfl:
(((Hugs))) spoons and sticks all round, as needed x
  • Morning all, I'm in this week, a day late I know but had a long weekend with family , great to see everyone but hard work. They left very early yesterday morning and we then spent 4 hours getting the house straight and clean again. I had forgotten how quickly 3 small children, 15 months, 4 and 6 could make a mess everywhere, add to that 8 adults and after 3 days it looked like half the beach had been walked through the place. Then after the drive back here went and bought OH new work trousers which were urgently required and signed all paperwork and collected keys for DD1's appartment.

Not quite how I imagined spending our 30th wedding anniversary but we were together and a big congrats to HB & Mr HB.

House now seems very quiet as DD2 also went back to uni over the weekend so now OH has gone off to work I have the house to myself. So no excuse not to get on with it. Loads of laundry as brought all the bedding back from holiday house so that will be keeping me busy.

Slinky challenge: Need to get this back up and going, holidays have not been too bad, only gaining 1.5 kgs so still 8 kgs lighter than the start of the year. Would really like to get rid of another 5 by the end of the year, more realistically I want to keep losing on a month by month basis.

Pretty quiet from a work point of view as although the schools went back here yesterday, my after school groups don't start for another couple of weeks so doing some admin and prep work and a few adults but hopefully will have some time to get on with the house and help DD1 sort out her appartment.

Hugs to all that need or want
    See you all later

    Morning all!

Today is my last day of confinement....yippee!!!

Happy anniversary to The Honey Bears and to Mademoiselle and Monsieur. Big congratulations to you all!

Sorry to hear FiL is not doing so well Jojo. Hugs to Himself and you x

Kitchen is still a WiP as I decided to stew and freeze about eleventy-hundred Victoria plums last night. Orchard has gone crazy this year, despite it being so hot and dry. I'm currently researching quince recipes...

Knew you'd rock your first day ATB - well done girl x

Congratulations on successful first days ATB and Kazwookie.

    (((Hugs))) Dancemum and Frodders.

Congratulations Mr and Mrs Mademoiselle and thank you one and all for your kind wishes. The day was fabby until Mr HB came downstairs with slurring speech, a swollen jaw and a tingling tongue - I think his oyster allergry now includes crab. 111, an ambulance and paramedic visit later he was boll***ed for allowing his Epipen to be 18 months past it's expiry date, checked over, dosed up with some powerful antihistamines I happned to have after some horrendous horsefly bites this year and told what course of action to take over the next few weeks. Other than that it was lovely.

I came back from the day out with a plan of action for the things that are outstanding that I need to shift so that life is easier, as part of Hovel 2 Haven, although working through it may take some weeks, if not months. I will wrangle what's left of the chaos into submission but there's no doubt that once you start dealing with things that have been outstanding for years, several more surface.

Kelpie trundled, things tidied, kitchen straightened and now on with the day.

Valli, don't worry about post 2. I'm still heavier and poorer than when I started.

    Me too. *sigh*
    Better is good enough.
