  • It used to be possible to open this account by phone with a non-NI address but there was mention on another thread recently that you can no longer open by phone from outwith NI.

Yeah, I opened my account via a half-hour telephone appointment...but that was a year ago...
I work within the voluntary sector, supporting vulnerable people to rebuild their lives.

    I love my job

Cheers. I guess it's not likely then. I'll ask them next week anyway tho with their online chat thing. Maybe if I explain that I don't need branch access and happy to manage the account online and post office maybe they might let me open it. Otherwise I guess I'll expect them to say northern Ireland residents only, no harm trying tho :)

I opened one a couple of days ago. Switching from a bog standard Santander account which has no perks/costs. Nice to get a free fiver every month. As I live in NI I had no issues opening an account and my new mortgage is (hopefully, its not signed yet) going to be with Danske anyway

Though I know from experience that their debit cards tends to have more failed contactless payments than other bank cards. Have never understood why

I opened an account beginning of this year. It works I absolutely fine. I recently opened up joint account too so that £10pm. You can have 1 joint and then 2 accounts in sole names. Can easily get £15pm.

So why the hell do some people from England get it and others not? Seems an odd policy they have if you ask me.

I think they must have only recently adopted the policy of no mainland residents. When I rang on behalf of someone recently they said they no longer have an appetite for non-NI customers.

    Thank you Ed :/

It's just frustrating , if only I was around here a year ago checking out great rewards that I'd have never found on my own accord. I might still ask them anyway, if not then the upside is the Barclays blue double bonus so no point being too upset :D now to see if I can cheat my way to the full co op bonus with daily PayPal transactions. Probably not :p Thanks to all on here in helping me think more smarter about rewards and banking perks :)

That's like thanking Fagin. I'm sure some of these people would stay in a hotel with a half-empty suitcase so they could fill it with the bathroom freebies, toilet rolls and suchlike. After all, it's not in the hotel terms and conditions that they shouldn't....
