I don't know what was posted, only realised when I read about it on here and asked, so have to assume whatever it was, was not very nice. As I said person has been told online abuse is out of order and not to be tolerated. I thought a forum like this would be above that sort of thing. How wrong can you be.

There was no bouncing around, it was impossible to get any more cushioning in the box, it simply could not move.
If it couldn't move around, and there was no damage to the outside packaging, then what mysterious force could possibly have broken it?

My thoughts exactly, complete mystery. Some sort of divine intervention maybe. Doesn't take away from the fact though, it was whole and is now broken. Thanks to everyone for all the helpful comments and advice!!!!

Well thank you for the abuse, I don't think I have called anyone an idiot. Are you telling me that you check online every service that you use to see how they treat things. I posted this parcel in all good faith that it would be handled correctly. I don't think I have been treated fairly by Royal Mail, a huge company and one that you put your trust in. I did not get the service I paid for. I posted on here to see if I could get any constructive advise after exhausting all the avenues open to me that wouldn't cost me any more, but obviously not. It may not be much to you all but £291 is a lot of money for me too lose. So thank you all for your input !!!!

Are you now saying you are the woman in the video?

But the box wasn't big enough, which would have allowed for that extra cushioning.

I could cramp a laptop into a box barely bigger than it with one layer of bubble wrap. It wouldnt be able to 'bounce around' but it sure as heck isnt getting there in one piece.

You paid for it to be delivered. It was, however, it was damaged in transit because of your inadequate packaging and RM's (or perhaps PF's) normal handling through their equipment.

Next time, consider a personal courier.

It was not a laptop, it was an ornament. It had several layers of bubble wrap, foam inserts and shredded paper. Packed according to Royal Mail guidelines except they say the box was 1cm too small height wise, although the recommended amount of clearance in box was achievable. I am at a loss to understand how it got broken as the box was not damaged, but the fact remains in was broken and I am £291 out of pocket when as far as I am concerned I did all the right things. The postal service used was for loss or DAMAGE and the claim system is all Royal Mail based and not independent. I can’t afford to go to small claims, so I was looking for some help or advice on here, obviously to no avail.

You can't send an item in insufficient packaging and then claim 'damage' because its your fault there was damage.

I could have a broken ornament, and think, bingo, I'll send it in a jiffy bag and then get compensation when the item arrives 'broken.'

If the item was sufficiently packaged it would have a) not broken or b) you would have got compensation from Royal Mail.

THREE people, one of whom was independent to RM have told you its your fault. Do you really need to pay to hear a judge say it too?

My argument is that it was sufficiently packed, the 1cm box size is nonsense as there was still the required amount of packing inside, but of course making a big thing of the box size is a cop out by all partys.
