Yikes, if people are waiting 20 seconds before moving off then it's no wonder we have traffic jams. Some lights only stay green for a minute.

Of course you shouldn't blindly move if it's not safe to do so, but I would have thought 2 seconds, not 20. Although I recognise there are a lot of people who don't react quickly enough. Some of them will be talking to their passengers, checking their mobiles, or listening to the radio. Some of them just lack the confidence to drive appropriately.

I would like to see everyone retake their test every 5 years.

Some lights only stay green for a minute.

Not round here they don't. A minute is a very long time on green. We have one set that stays green in one direction for just eight seconds. If you're second in the queue behind a bus you won't get through (unless you cross on amber).The complete sequence time is just over two minutes. It's just a simple crossroads with pedestrian control but all four roads are held at red for almost a minute if a pedestrian presses the button to cross any of the four roads.

Other people seem to devote their entire existence to actually going out of their way to to do things for the sole purpose of annoying me, and making my day just that little tiny bit more miserable than it was already.


Possibly if I'm not around they do it to you instead?

haha, twenty seconds.. really. people must love you!

no one is saying you have to boot it off the lights, but there's no need to take seemingly ages to move. To be honest i find it selfish, and you are contributing to extra fuel usage, traffic jams and general stress levels on the road, even if you apparently don't feel it in your particular laid back atmos.

Well i can sayno one has ran into the side of my car,if you read thru these posts there is plenty of people complaining they " moved off on green but a car coming the other way state that they moved off on red " and if no witnesses most insurance companies go 50/50:eek:

yeah so can i. but 20 seconds is longer than some lights are even green around here:eek:
