Traffic Lights
Why do some people take so long to start off when traffic lights turn green - does it really take that long for them to get their one brain cell working?
Earlier today someone took so long only them and one other car got through before changing.
Surely if they can not think that quickly they shouldn't be driving on the roads.

You may think these people possibly being elderly but that is not always the case very often when I have spotted them they are youngsters.0

Agreed, they really should be in first gear, staring at the lights reving it to 3,000 rpms on the clutch waiting to drop it the second it goes green, rather than texting or looking at cat videos on their phones.0 -
I suppose it depends on the driver or even their car sometimes.
Sometimes the driver might not be concentrating or might be in a world of their own and hasn't realised the light has gone green. Others might have cars that do take a while to engage into drive. I know when I used to have a sluggish Corsa it used to be like that and I had to over-rev it constantly to get it to move. My friend who's new to driving was telling me he has similar issues moving off in his Fiesta.
Though I am with you, when you're in a rush yourself it does get rather annoying within the situation, but there's more than likely reasons for it0 -
They are the same people who stop at roundabouts when it is clear to proceed.0

There are also people who go through traffic lights on red so to be honest i always look twice to make sure no one is jumping the lights, the extra 20 seconds it takes will not make a hole in my lifespan.0

Don't forget that anyone can be "occasionally" slow to move off for a lot of reasons. Whether that's being distracted (not a good idea behind the wheel but it does happen), a problem with the car, a mistake like stalling, unfamiliarity with where they're going, mis-reading a multiple light system, or whatever. I've done it, everyone I know has done it, I'd be willing to bet everyone on here has done it - at least once.
When you're behind someone who does this you don't generally know if that's their "one time" this decade or if they do it every time. Personally, I'd always rather that they delay me a little (even missing a change) than go screaming off, tyres spinning, like a drag race start straight into the side of the guy jumping amber / red the other way.
Because that's going to hold me up a hell of a lot longer!0 -
Why are you so impatient? Surely if something trivial like this causes you such anguish, you shouldn't be driving on the roads.0
