Hello everyone.
I thought I'd do a quick update.
I'm not feeling as bad as I was the other week.
DH and I had some mega rows, so much so that I think we both thought it was over. However, we had a good talk and are now back on track.
We pulled the 'new' mattress out of the other bedroom and swapped it for the one on our bed. We have 4 mattress toppers on it :rotfl:, it's very high and too firm still, but it has made a big difference to my backache and I don't wake up having to turn every hour. I have also slept through from around 10pm to 4am a couple of times, I haven't done that for years :T It's too hard for DH, so we will have to save for a new mattress, I'd like to sink into one again, rather than rest on the surface, so I'm happy to do that. What we have is acceptable for now though and didn't cost us anything.
One of the house jobs became super urgent, so I had to scrape every penny I could find from my emergency fund, savings and budgets to come up with my half. I am completely skint now, but it will have made a big dent in the 'house' target and will be one job ticked off.
I've been continuing with eBay and we've had a lot of sales between us.
Our 40 year old cooker is playing up and not cooking properly. It needs replacing but obviously I don't have the funds for that at the moment. Our microwave has an oven in it too, so I'm trying that out as we speak. It will be helpful, but is too small for long term use. So the hunt is on for a small 50cm wide gas cooker, if anyone can recommend one!
Little miss was ill last week, so I had to take some time off. She's better now but it means I've lost some hours at work which is still very busy.
I have finally got to the end of my 'to be read' pile of books :T So I rejoined the library with the kids, and have dug out my kindle. I've still got books to work through on my shelves, but the stuff I've not read before has all been done. There were hundreds and hundreds of them originally! I now have 1900 books on my kindle to work through
I had my credit on one of my debts for 'unfair treatment' so that's a nice £200-ish knocked off without any effort from me. :T"Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". Eoin McGee0 -

I'm glad you're feeling a bit better Jwil and have made up with DH.
A new mattress does sound like a top priority. We bought a new good quality mattress two years ago. It has a latex topper built in and is like sleeping on a cloud. Before that DH and I used to have springs digging into our ribs and I used to lie on a slope all night, as DH is much heavier than me. I used to wake up with a backache every morning. With the new mattress I don't roll into DH and I wake up refreshed and with no aches and pains every morning. Worth every penny!
