Is there a solution to the hideous Car Insurance problem in UK?

Hello,

UK car insurance is hideously expensive in UK. It costs almost a salary per year. Even if you are not causing any damage for years, it still goes up!

Is there a solution to that hideous extortional exploitation?

Is there a foreign company or any other solution? I don't want to give a single dim to these hideous companies.

PS: Please don't post here if you are 900 years old dinosaur who lives in a rural hole where you see other cars every 2 years and boast that you only pay £2.5 per annum or whatever. The problem is real for normal people of normal age and in normal areas.

You've kind of answered your own question. The solution is to grow old.

I would love to see these miserable companies liquidate when the autonomous vehicles arrive.

One thing that would help would be to push back against the increasingly litigious nature of our society.

You either have a part time job earning a very low salary or drive a really high risk car or are a really bad driver if your premium is the same as your annual salary

A salary per year - are you a 17 yr old convicted drunk driver insuring a Ferrari? I'm what you so eloquently describe as a dinosaur (in other words an experienced careful driver with a 'sensible' car) so pay around £200 or so per year, but even my 21 yr old SD pays 'only' £900 for hers, even after a fault claim last year. Considering she could in theory cause many £000's of damage in an accident, I don't think it's bad value.

Have you seen the margins these so called miserable companies make on motor insurance? They are really quite small.

I paid £860 and I've got a 21 & 19 year old on my policy. Much less than an annual salary.
