OS Friday 2nd November 2007

Hi, this is the Daily Thread for Friday 2nd November 2007. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything OS and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an OS natter. The more the merrier!

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem, we’re a laid back bunch here so you won’t hear any complaints. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

Buenas Dias

Don't panic not really up as early as it shows, as we are an hour ahead here. Finding now rested up only need 5-6 hours of very solid sleep a night (OH says I go unconscious!), plus usually have a little doze in the sun after lunch. I fell asleep watching TV last night around 10.30 pm so slept up by now.

Must get my act together today, some friends are coming out to join us and then travel back with us in the car through Frace on Sunday so better give their bedroom/bathroom a dust and mop (tiled floors here).

Going to go down to one of the local Irish Bars to arrange a group meal on the 11th November when there is a group on. Out here it is any excuse to get together and eating out is relatively cheap, certainly better value for money than home.

Glad to see you have bounced back a little GB, I noticed something different with my DH a couple of years ago and he had it checked out but was nothing, but as you say worth checking out. On the same subject - it applies to us too to check our own bits out!

I can't remember what I have said with being on here so infrequently recently due to pc problems, but DS passed his degree and will be graduating at the end of November, so relief all round there (he had to improve and re-submit his dissertation).

Roz - Good luck in your new flat - how are things otherwise since your degree job wise, etc.? Hope you meet someone nice when you are ready and glad the split was amiable, though you may find you enjoy each other again with space, but be careful, don't just accept second best if you are just lonely on your own.

Scuzz - keep talking to him as a friend its important they are that too, if it develops well that is a bonus.

Jackie-0 - enjoy Bluewater.

Pen-Pin how did the hospital visit go?

Hester - think you need to set some ground rules for your lodger!!

((((hugs))))) all round
Take care

    Morning all

Lost another 1 kilo this week - so now at 2st 4.5lb now :j

Well i was going to have a walk with hubby around the golf course this morning..but it really rainy and horrible..so here i am...sat in the warm - and hubby has tootled off anyway... insanity!!!!! mind it was DH that suggested i stay home.... honest :D

Dinner tonight is going to be corned beef hash and dumplings :T ... im sticking to my meal plans brilliantly - just take a look on the PC every evening in case i need anything out of the freezer..and im done.
I worked out 6 weeks worth of menus...which will take us up to about DEC 14... and now we are going back home to spend xmas/newyear... so i will have little or no food shopping to do between now and the new year :rotfl:
    :rotfl:

Just have to get the xmas gifts sorted :p ..was thinking of doing hampers... but one brother and SIL may be getting a raclette machine..they fell in love with ours last new year... and wanted one, well i can get one much cheaper here... so i may have to go in search...
I have taken in all the suggestions you made for sis' "pamper hamper" thankyou all.... going to be my own personal challenge not to go mad with the xmas gifts... fingers crossed

Well i had better get off and get something done
hugs to all those in need..have a great day everyone :D

  • Morning Amiee, Mrs McCawber and donny-gal, and all those to wake up! Congrats on the fantastic weightloss Mrs McC, you're doing fantastically well. Hope the head feels better today Amiee. Congrats to your DS, donny-gal, such a relief when our offspring do well!

Have been missing in action for a few days (probably weeks) but have been reading the daily most days. Loved Haribo's picture gallery, made me laugh. Glad to hear that PennyPincher is home and I hope that things improve soon. Ditto JackieO. And hugs to Mioliere and her OH. Oh and hugs to everyone else!!

Things here haven't been so good, major family problems that I don't want to bore you with; and also a good friend of mine is dying, she's not expected to last the week but is in a wonderful hospice where they are taking such good care of her. I can't believe it, really, she's only my age and this hideous disease has taken hold of her so quickly. Life is horrible, sometimes.

Anyway today is another day and I have a college session first thing, then it's on to Christmas pudding making, yay! I'm also sewing a pair of concert trousers for DD (concert is tomorrow, nothing like last-minute panic) so I must get those done today too. Baked DS a huge chocolate cake yesterday as OH is going up to see him today - they're spending a boys' weekend walking in the Lake District - so OH also got a fruit cake for energy (ha, no comments please;) ) and the Panny was pressed into service to provide fresh bread for their bacon sandwiches.

Have a good day everyone. Hugs to all!

Well Amie, I don't dream (or if I do I don't remember them!) and if I dreamt of Eastender lads, I wouldn't know who they were as I don't watch it, so maybe there is an answer there somewhere!!!

Morning to all who have posted so far and those yet to post.

DONNY - Congrats to DS- you must be so pleased.

MRSMCAWBER - well done on your fantastic weightloss. I bought a raclette in France last year; I think they're great and it is such a sociable way to eat with friends.

MRSFLITTERSNOOP - Good to hear from you. Many ((((hugs)))) to your friend.

Well, MIL's funeral went as well as could be expected in Cyprus; she was buried on top of a hill in a lovely little cemetery set amongst orange trees. FIL has just 'booked' his plot beside her. He said it was either £500 for one plot or £600 if you bought two together! He always looks for the bargains. I couldn't help thinking that that was true OS! We are just waiting to find out when the others will be coming back to the UK, then DH will go out to spend time with him.

Not quite so important, I suppose, but still sad - my mum had to have her lovely 20 year old cat put to sleep yesterday. She had suddenly become very old and frail and was not eating well and, the day before yesterday, when mum picked her up she weighed hardly anything; she had eaten nothing all day and her back legs were failing her, so mum knew she couldn't let her suffer. She called the vet who came to the house, with the nurse, within the hour and mum said they were brilliant. She was able to hold the cat while they 'did the deed', and, within two minutes of the injection, she was gone. Mum doesn't feel as sad as she expected to feel and I think that's because she knows it was the kindest thing to do.

Well, today's plan is to change the sheets and have a good clean throughout the house. I'm still waiting for my energy to return from that blasted cold I had - I can't believe how long it's taking to feel truly better. Every night I think 'I'll go back to the gym tomorrow' but, the next day, I feel just as tired and floppy. There's loads I want to do but everything takes so long - I'm just having to be patient which is not easy for me!

Well, must go and wake DH up, then have a shower, then get going on the rest of the day.

Hope everyone has a good day. I must thank you all once again for all your good wishes and kind thoughts re MIL.

    (((hugs))) to everyone.

  • Good morning everyone!

I'm up at an ungodly hour, too. Woke up and can't get back off - not worth trying now.

Hope Haribo doesn't mind - more for the Hall of Fame:

Pen Pin - I know the chook-cam isn't working, but any chance of any chook pics? What variety are they?

Miloilere - huge hugs for you.

DH is off w*** today, so we're doing a few big house jobs (cleaning windows and clearing the shed of junk) Off out with friends tonight, for a curry and a few drinks.

    Hello All

I called a friend yesterday who does angel cards and she did a reading on bloke. The cards think this could be it! BUT I have to wait for him to come to me. So I'm just biding my time now. We are friends and have been for about a year now.

Really not interested in doing any work today, but guess I have to!

Saved £1.65 on my petrol yesterday thanks to a coupon from Mr T. First PIN money of the month.

I also recieved a cheque for $4:confused: It's from a survey site, but I don't remember doing the survey. Is it worth trying to bank the cheque? Will I actually be left with any cash after the conversion?

Think I've got a "surprise" outing for my birthday next week - cat was let out of the bag yesterday:rotfl:

    Hope everyone's ok
