    Today been Sunday, you mean.

I know we live in a 24/7 society but most energy supply call centres will be closed today, even the big companies like british gas.

I know it's Sunday thanks;...Eversmart, for example, are open till 5pm,... so your exact point is?

It appears that people may be signing up to terms and conditions which includes this paragraph:

6.2.1 For the avoidance of doubt, the following are not classed as disadvantageous to You:
    i) Any changes to the rate of VAT incorporated in Your tariff or associated charges.
ii) Changes We must make due to changes required by a regulatory body.
iii) Any changes to Your fixed Direct Debit amount.
iv) Moving You onto a variable tariff.

    Interesting!
Thanks for that Hengus,...I'm getting more confused by the minute.
    https://ye.co.uk/terms

Yorkshire Energy’s Ts&Cs within the first few paragraphs says this:
“ Contract is a fixed term period over which We guarantee the rates You will pay for Your gas and electricity.”

However, as you quite rightly point out, section 6.2.1iv appears to completely neuter the above contract definition.

I wonder whether section 6.2.1iv is just something they need to insert which basically gives YE indemnity against customers who let their tariff expire without negotiating a new tariff and are moved, by default, to their standard variable tariff.

However, section 6.2.1iv could be seen as Yorkshire Energys ‘get out of jail free’ card if they decided to ditch their fixed tariff customers. That’s apparently the situation Economy Energy customers find themselves in at the moment.

What is your expert take on this Hengus?
  • As a check to my previous post I re-entered all my usage figures but used my sons post code to see if it made a difference to my quote;...it didn’t,...the quote was exactly the same,...however it seems to good to be true.

I then used my daughters post code and that produced a very different result,...it was £1397.30 which would make more sense.

    However, it still says this:

tariff Green Badger - Fixed Until 31st October 2019
    Type of tariff Variable

I’ve just spoken to Yorkshire Energy and they have assured me that ‘Green Badger’ is definitely a fixed tariff and not a variable;...the info on the website states that the tariff is ‘variable’ but it’s an admin error, which they are aware of.

Their IT bods are in the process of correcting the error.
  • Rang YE yesterday at 10.40am to sort out my first ‘issue’ as a YE customer (initial gas reading);... waited for 10mins in the phone queue then was given an automated ‘call back’ option,...which I accepted.

24hrs later still no call-back from YE;...not very impressive eh? :(

I've been with YE for nearly a month and I got an email today asking me to submit meter readings for the first bill.

After entering the readings I got another email about 15mins later saying my bill was ready.

A big improvement over my last provider (Flow) who would take about a week to generate a bill.

Likewise for me. Submitted the meter readings 10 mins ago, live account balance immediately updated and now just had email that bill was ready. Very impressive and a big improvement on TE. Fingers crossed everything continues like this.

I concur, just submitted first months readings and almost instant update - and it agrees with my calcs!! Likewise fingers crossed. Just need TE to send me my refund now - already overdue --- surprise surprise.
  • First bill now received all looks fine....so much more info on their statements than on Together Energy's (refund now received by the way!)even though the portal looks the same. Can't fault the switch so far....:):):T
  • I'm in the process of switching to YE, for electricity only, from First Utility (I'm a refugee from the failed Usio).

Early days in my switch, but seems to be progressing OK. They gave me an estimated start-date, set at 21 days from sign-up (which will be 26/11/18), and they set-up the Direct Debit in accordance with projections. I will report back here how it pans out.
  • So, just called YE and the recorded message said closed for xmas period, open again 27 Dec...

Just registering the fact that they have an out of date message if they read this forum
