@sush40 - I can confirm YE is paid as cashback in Santander 123 accounts - I get cashback in my Santader 123 account.
Now, regarding entering meter readings in the part of the website that takes readings; the two sections are labelled 01 and 02. It's easy to assume 01 is for day readings and 02 is for E7 night readings but I rang YE to check that assumption.
What they said is it depends on how they are designated on your meter. Therefore it does not always mean 01 is for day readings and 02 is for E7 night readings - you need to check. I assume YE get the info from the independant company that verifies your meter readings at switch time.
So, a warning - don't automatically assume 01 is day and 02 is E7 night - it might be but check with YE to be sure before entering your readings. They can quickly inspect your account details to check which way round they are designated.0 -
You could always switch to Bulb first, bag your £50 referral money, then in a couple of months (before you start turning your heating on) switch again to YE or whomever has the cheapest fix available at the time. Prices are unlikely to change dramatically in that short time and you'll be able to judge if the Bulb 'experience' is worth paying a little extra for in the long run (offset by that £50).
This is exactly what I was planning to do :P I was thinking the 50pound credit could pay for the extra in case Bulb increase their price.
I'm glad to know YE works with the Santander cashback.don't automatically assume 01 is day and 02 is E7 night - it might be but check with YE to be sure before entering your readings. They can quickly inspect your account details to check which way round they are designated.
This is very good to know! I find it a bit weird they dont clarify it on the online platform (it would make more sense to have ''night/day'' rather than 1/2) and I must say it could be confusing. I cant access the meter for my flat, I have to ask the cleaners in my building to read them for me, so i still dont know what the physical meter looks like, that's why I was asking.
As for their customer service, I dont need it to be the best, but I would find it easier to sort little things out myself from the online account without having to ring someone and wait, so I just think Bulb could be a bit more convenient for me.0 -
Out of interest, what would people say are the top 10 (or more if you like!) must have features for an online energy account?I am not a financial adviser and neither do I play one on television. I might occasionally give bad advice but at least it's free.
Like all religions, the Faith of the Invisible Pink Unicorns is based upon both logic and faith. We have faith that they are pink; we logically know that they are invisible because we can't see them.0 -
I've been happy with Yorkshire Energy, they aren't the cheapest but they've done everything when they said they would and when I needed to contact them they were available and polite. I'm moving now because I need to save money but wouldn't have a problem re joining them.0

I've decided to stay put this year as I've been so happy with YE. After last years debacle with Together Energy, responsiveness, timeliness and accuracy of billing etc I decided it was worth it to stay even though it will cost me a small amount to stay0

I wouldn’t have stayed with YE anyway as their present 12-month fixed tariff (Green Goat) now has a £60 exit fee;...not sure, but it I think it may be the first YE fixed tariff to have exit fees.

I think you’re right- I managed to get in on the Alpaca deal - good luck with Avro!0

Are there any sites offering cashback for switching to Yorkshire Energy as they seem not to be included in the ones I've recently used?0

I joined YE a year ago on a fixed tarriff and have received an email inviting me to renew, which I have done.
The original transfer from my previous supplier, IRESA/Octopus Energy went smoothly and the the renewal was achieved via a short telephone call. To date I have had no problems with customer service rather the oposite I have been very satisfied and would happily recommend YE.
They are a couple of £'s per month more than the cheapest fixed term tarriff but given actual costs vary with consumption I'm content to stick with them. The only slight irritation is the introduction of the £60 exit fee although the likelihood of that coming into play depends upon whether energy prices fall significantly.0 -

It's the same reason why Aldi & Lidl don't have schemes similar to Clubcard points or Nectar.
Sadly, you can't have your cake and eat it !0
