Using social media to voice a concern is a good idea. Trapadvisor, local Fakebook and Tw@tter, Visitor Centre feedback etcetera.

No need to rant, but express horror at being penalised for following parking operator's instructions only to find out it is an unregulated scam that our MPs are trying to stop.

It has put you and your family off visiting again.

If you don't have the landowner's details, you can also ask if someone local knows who it is.
I married my cousin. I had to...
    I don't have a sister. :D

    update:
no info from the landord. I didnt try the social media, reviews etc as out of comfort with this.
B-W-L-e-g-a-l still texting calling and mailing. One letter via post so far. Not sure if i should pick up or respond to those. One advice was to tell them to contact me via post only - i can do that but what do i do with the letters? ignore fully?
Sorry if those questions seem to be silly - I am not used to ignore anyone and never had to so it all feels weird...
    thanks

    Then chase the landlord ?

Yes a letter to BWLegal with your instructions how to communicate with you. If they fail, they act illegally under The Administration of Justice Act

Then it's a direct complaint to the SRA and Trading Standards

The only letter not to ignore is a LETTER BEFORE CLAIM otherwise it's just junk mail

Not everything. OBVIOUSLY you do NOT ignore a court claim.

Why not simply read 20 or so BW Legal threads by people already defending - these are all over the forum and you need no links to find them.

    Hi,
Land Registry is my friend when it comes to my ongoing case with Armtrac. Looking at the Land Registry it seems to be the freehold at:

    Bedford Road Car Park
    The Stennack
    St Ives

By going to the official gov.org.uk land registry portal you want to go to property search then map enquiry. Enter postcode of launderette. Get satellite view. Zoom all the way in on to the cars in the middle of the car park. Then select the search within 5 metres radius and voila. The title register that contains the contact info of the landowner (listed as freehold) costs £3. Print it off straight away as the resultant pdf does not always open later.

Remember to keep receipts for any later expenses claim from BW Legal.

    update:
(to clarify - I did check the land register and the map but didn't see the tiny car park bit).

After that I decided to wait. BWL still making calls, I picked some as was frustrated, but they ask me for my details to check their account - which I refused to give as they should know who they call in my opinion.
I got the letter from the court (it took almost a year to come). The claim form states some facts about the claim and will fill out the defence and counterclaim. BWL also sent out a letter after this to settle - but i take i shouldn't respond to that either... or should i just call them to confirm i am ok with the court case? I seriously feel odd about ignoring the communication and only this forum keeps me still.

Question - there is a counterclaim section there. I didn't incur any other costs on this but I had to spend some significant time to prepare to the case etc. I am an employee and don't have own business, so can't invoice them but should i claim anything? what would be reasonable, if at all? I don't want to make bucks here and would put it to charity - just want them to make them pay for their greed and lack of honesty. (well... when/if i win).

    thanks!

Edit: Since i got the Country Cort Claim letter, I don't remember getting the LBC letter (but i was off on holidays approx month ago so probably just missed it/never read it...) Should I still respond to LBC or to BW LEGAL? they sent me a letter that states:
"Its not too late to get in touch. We would like to discuss how we can prevent your case proceeding to a CCJ and avoid additional legal costs. This may happen if we have not agreed a suitable repayment plan by 23 May"
then it says i can defend myself in court. so again - should i still do SAR and respond to LBC?

Should i also post my defence proposal here so everyone can check?

    thanks

What is the Issue Date on your Claim Form?

Did it come from the County Court Business Centre in Northampton, or from somewhere else?

With a Claim Issue Date of 3rd May, you have until Wednesday 22nd May to do the Acknowledgement of Service, but there is nothing to be gained by delaying it. To do the AoS, follow the guidance offered in a Dropbox file linked from post #2 of the NEWBIES FAQ sticky thread. About ten minutes work - no thinking required.

Having done the AoS, you have until 4pm on Wednesday 5th June 2019 to file your Defence.

That's nearly four weeks away. Loads of time to produce a perfect Defence, but don't leave it to the last minute.

When you are happy with the content, your Defence should be filed via email as suggested here:
      Print your Defence.
    1. Sign it and date it.
    2. Scan the signed document back in and save it as a pdf.
    3. Send that pdf as an email attachment to CCBCAQ@Justice.gov.uk
    4. Just put the claim number and the word Defence in the email title, and in the body of the email something like 'Please find my Defence attached'.
    5. Log into MCOL after a few days to see if the Claim is marked "defence received". If not chase the CCBC until it is.
    6. Do not be surprised to receive an early copy of the Claimant's Directions Questionnaire, they are just trying to keep you under pressure.
    7. Wait for your DQ from the CCBC, or download one from the internet, and then re-read post #2 of the NEWBIES FAQ sticky thread to find out exactly what to do with it.

No, this is not a counter claim which is only if you had a claim in law under a contract.

Your costs are a matter dealt with later (see examples of costs schedules lower down in the 2nd post of the NEWBIES thread, under the defences & court experience and Witness Statement links.

No, you just file a signed defence attached to an email, as KeithP says.
