Is anyone else waiting for a final bill from Iresa? I have not recieved anything from Octopus.

    Mine's all sorted.

Did you send them your final reading and did you respond respond to their closure e-mail (have you checked that it's not got lost in your spam folder)

If you are still waiting then I suggest you contact Octupus directly and ask them what's happening

According to Octopus blog, over 75000 bills have now been sent out - the remainder are due to be sent early next week (~ 15000 left?)
So if you haven't had a bill by Weds. next I would definitely contact them.:)

I too was with Iresa for my gas and electric. When I received my final bill via Octopus, it was for a colossal £248.

When I heard about Iresa's demise, I had checked my accounts with them and at the last bill, I think I owed about £50-60 for electric but was in credit of around £5 for gas. As advised, I didn't cancel the DD so its obviously not that. (To note, my DD was for circa. £67/month)

Their records are showing that I have apparently used £230 worth of GAS ONLY from May to August which I find extremely hard to believe. Considering its a lot warmer, I rarely have my heating on at the best of times and the fact I was in credit albeit a small amount.

I disputed the amount straightaway but haven't received anything back from Octopus as yet.

Do I leave the DD (its next due out on Sept 1st) or cancel it? Can/will they automatically take this £250?

    Any help/advice is appreciated

Are the two sets of figures based on estimates or actual meter readings?

I couldn't figure out why I'd apparently had a huge jump in elec consumption a few months back - turned out it'd been a while since an actual reading, and their estimates were low.

Aah yes. I stupidly assumed that the reading I gave Octopus when they asked for it would be the one they used to calculate the final bill. Wor lass was having kittens when I told her the final figure!

According to Iresa's estimation, they think that I have used 212 units of gas from July 19th (my last reading) to August 1st (their "estimate")

I can't submit any more readings on the Iresa site so I'll just have to wait for Octopus to get back to me

    Cheers

Mine was ridiculous too. I disputed it and they said oh yes and changed it completely.

Confirmation of switch from octopus to enstroga autumn attraction came through this morning.
    Just £1.76 a month extra.
    Happy days.

I quite sympathise. My estimate for the second hottest July on record was 1854 units.

Nice. What am I heating here? A stadium? I am disputing it. I wonder whether that is the right thing to do though (?).

If Octopus run with the estimated figures, would that not mean I would get 1800 units of gas at the (cheap) Iresa price? i.e. I would be buying it forward at the old price?

Or do they start with a clean slate?

I'm not quite sure why some people seem to be having a problem with the transition between IRESA and Octopus unless they haven't been on the ball and responded to Octopus's e-mails with meter readings, additional info or even not been totally truthful.

I was convinced that IRESA's under estimate of 1878kwh on their statement was going to cause me problems but I answered Octopus's e-mails, disputed the estimate, gave them my readings and a breakdown of what I though my bill should be and it was accepted without any queries.

I paid the arrears of £25.50 (IRESA though I should be around £180 in credit) and it's all sorted out.

I think the timing is unfortunate.

Not everyone even reads their email frequently in July/August, or is in a part of the world with easy access to the internet. Or is in a position to be reading their meters if they are.
