Octopus now show a DD on my account, but about half the amount I was paying Iresa. Is this deliberate to pay down the credit balance?

Also, in spite of submitting readings for a whole month now, no sign of a "bill" from Octopus, so the account balance is just increasing, without actually paying for any electricity yet.

Octopus have now sorted my query and credited my account, I appreciate it was only £21.38 but better in my pocket.

Now deciding what company to move to. Do many of you have your gas and electric with different companies?

I've always gone for dual fuel, just to keep it simple.

Never really thought of getting separate suppliers. I may see what separate quotes are like when my next fixed deal runs out.

As all these new entries to the Utility market appeared a couple of years ago, it became possible to get cheapest deals by splitting supply contracts - the dual fuel "discounts" given by the Big 6 became considerably less generous:( I've been on separate contracts for nearly two years now.
  • Really woRth checking, even after Iresa i am still on different suppliers and the saving was over £10 a month.
Enstroga Autumn attraction and Ebico 18 month fixed term
  • My ‘final’ bill came through on 23rd August. Debit of £73.39. I challenged it (of course), but couldn’t be bothered to work out what it should be so estimated it at £100 credit. This morning It was accepted. Why didn’t I estimate it at £200 credit? Should I accept now? Any advice would be gratefully received. Andy

I don't get it, why did you challenge it if you couldn't be bothered to work it out? What purpose is there besides delaying the switch? Are you just wanting to follow the crowd? Yes, just accept now and stop wasting yours and their time.

I was preparing to dispute their final bill but it turns out it was totally accurate and I am in the middle of a switch away. Everything so far has run smoothly.

Hmmmm. You seem to be asking for advise as to whether you should be honest or dishonest. Surely you would get advice to be dishonest only from a dishonest person. Is that the sort of person you are happy to take advice from?:)

The money would come from Octopus, the people who have put their business on the line to help Iresa customers out of the mire. They took responsibility for all outstanding balances - debit and credit - on from the administrators.
