Not everyone even reads their email frequently in July/August, or is in a part of the world with easy access to the internet. Or is in a position to be reading their meters if they are.
Fair enough but remember, we're talking here about people who have done their research and their sums and moved on to IRESA, one of the cheapest suppliers. These folk will have become familiar with reading and sending monthly readings. So I think it's reasonable to assume that they are 'on the ball'.
I have been on holiday but I took readings just before I left, just in case I wanted to keep a track on progress with Octopus and maybe arrange a move ASAP. That's what happened (although Eversmart haven't actually asked me for readings yet).
(Yes, even holidays can get a bit boring sometimes and I like little things to do).0 -
I have responded to all emails recieved from octopus provided meter readings etc checked spam and I have still not recieved details of my Iresa final bill.0

Hi, I read my meter on 1st August and readings were recorded on my account. Iresa then gave me an estimated reading (the same date) which has resulted in a debit of £58 showing on the gas part of my account. I am currently trying to get this corrected with Octopus.
Please would anyone know if I have to wait to get this problem rectified before I can start to switch companies. Octopus said it would be 12 hours to reply to me now its going to be up to 7 days. Don`t want to have to wait that long.
Thinking of moving to Avro, they seem to be cheapest for us but £20 a month more than Iresa.
Thank you0 -

I received an email from Octopus headed "FYI: Thank you. Your transfer is complete". In the email they said:
"Your transfer to Octopus Energy is now complete, and your Octopus account is up and running.
We're issuing final bills all this week, covering the period up to July 31st. If you haven't received yours, it should be in your inbox by the end of the week.
You can now switch to a new supplier, should you choose to do so.
If you stay with Octopus, you'll get great service & good value green energy — plus £50 credit for every friend you introduce."
So I arranged a switch on that day. If you haven't received that email yet (check your junk mail folder) then presumably it wouldn't be an idea to start a switch. Then again, there is a cooling off period, so maybe things don't start happening between suppliers until that ends. In which case you could start things now.0 -
Hi JohnB47
Yes I have had that email, but my Iresa account is still under review. Have just heard from Octopus (very quick reply once I sent two eamils to them) they have informed me I now owe £5.89 which is a big improvement on the last figure but have just replied giving them my breakdown which shows a credit of £21.38 which if it is sorted will go towards my electricity and gas from 1st August.0 -
Received an update on my dispute, credit of £13 increased to £60. Still rejected as i have not received the updated bill, just a offer of £60.
Ive recalculated the bill, i have it at £64 ishy..they need to go formal..0 -
Octopus have now sorted my query and credited my account, I appreciate it was only £21.38 but better in my pocket.
Now deciding what company to move to. Do many of you have your gas and electric with different companies?0 -
Now showing a DD on my Octopus account. They will be in for a nasty shock if they try to take it, cancelled it in July as soon as Iresa went belly up and have the confirmation e-mail to prove it.0

Same here - not too sure that having my details isn't a breach of Data regs. as I also had a confirmation from IRESA of cancellation and the details vanished from the website - they SHOULD have approached me for a fresh mandate!
Keeping an eye on my current account to make sure that DD doesn't reappear -but by the time they attempt to apply they should have been told that I'm switching onwards:)0
