If you are now an Octopus Energy customer, I'm sure they will be in touch with you soon, if they haven't already, to set up a new DD so you can pay them for energy used.

If you switched before Iresa said they were ceasing trading, but are still owed some money, Octopus say they will honour any credit balances for such old customers but to please bear with them and they will be in touch in the next few weeks.

I've had an email from Octopus saying that my £89 credit with Iresa has now been transferred over.

This shows on my Octopus account. I cancelled my Iresa DD and I assume that Octopus will contact me to set up a new one, albeit temporarily.

Still can't wait for 22nd to come round to start the move away!

Same here Mister G,
I have just over a £100 transferred over into my Octopus account. I cancelled my Direct Debit with Iresa.
I am moving away ASAP, was planning to start the switch tonight now everything is sorted.
My question is do I need to open a new Direct Debit with Octopus in order for them to be able to pay my refund?
• I have a bill for May-Aug which is about £5 too much because they ignored my actual readings instead of estimated. I would let that go, but the running total of my credit balance is about £70 short of what it should be, for reasons I was disputing with Iresa. I don't have a final bill yet though, so maybe those issues will be resolved now that Octopus is on the case.

But if not, I'm still not sure whether I'll accept or dispute. Overnight my most recent Ombudsman-ordered compensation was credited to the account (£250). The Ofgem guidance is clear that Octopus won't be paying outstanding money Iresa owes from Obudsman cases. If I press on the £70, will they retract the £250?

Okay here is an ethical question.

I have just received my final bill from IRESA. The balance is less than I expected. Analysing the final bill, it is because they have ignored the reading I submitted on 1st August, and used a made up reading about 200 units higher.

If I Accept this final bill, then it will mean I get those 200 units at the IRESA rate, and my first usage bill with Octopus will be lower.

If I dispute the bill, and make them use the correct reading, then those 200 units will correctly eventually be billed to me at the higher Octopus rate.

What would you do?

Can I just ask a silly question, why have they produced final bills for 1 May to 1 August when we have already had bills for May & June?

Similar here, about 40 cu metres higher than supplied reading

They seem keen to get you to agree the final bill, even appearing to offer [STRIKE]a bribe[/STRIKE] an incentive:)
However, reviewing the details of each case individually is time consuming for us, and a slow and drawn out process for you. So if you're happy to agree this amount, we'll credit an extra £20 to your final balance – meaning you owe
However they don't seem to have included the £20 credit on my final amount:(

Also probably difficult to move supplier with a changeover reading less than I started with Octopus with!

No mention of a £20 credit on my email, probably because I have a credit balance.
