What do you mean his long term EU scepticism?

He's always said he was in favour of the European project in principle, but the execution of free movement has been used to erode workers' rights and he's concerned that the EU is more right wing that it's constituent countries.

I am against Brexit as it was always going to be cheerled by racists and xenophobes, but I agree with him in this case. What is he supposed to say? Labour are a party of the Unions and there is nothing more anathema to unionisation than a steady stream of casual low wage labour coming in from overseas.

I disagree with him however that the EU is the problem. The UK has always had power to control it's own immigration from the EU and has never used it. It also has the power to outlaw zero hours contracts and pay an actual living wage. But this will never happen under the Tories.

I think he has more problems with EU than freedom of movement. If that's your reason for voting remain I think you need to examine your thinking. You are also falsely branding concerns about immigration as racism and xenophobia.

No, I'm branding racism and xenophobia as racism and xenophobia. If you don't want racists and xenophobes in your Brexit movement then kick them out.

    I'm not holding my breath.

You seem to have little idea of what that means because the REAL racists and xenophobes are the EU.
That's why they are trying so desperately (and miserably failing) to keep would-be migrants out and why Italy won't take any more, and why Germany is seeing problems & their AfD are increasing in popularity.
Why not go take your grievances out on them?

The EU are the real racists and xenophobes because they can't keep migrants out?????

    ....

Even in 1983, when the Labour Party promoted Brexit? Did he no toe the party line?:)

Oh look. This complete rubbish again.

In 2017 Italy received 130,000 asylum applications, Germany got 220,000, and the UK got a measly 30,000. 4 times less than Italy.

    http://www.europarl.europa.eu/external/html/welcomingeurope/default_en.htm

The problem with spouting anti-EU UKIP propaganda is that 99% of it is made up and collapses when introduced to fact.
  • Here's a fact for you Arklight.
Portsmouth to Benghazi = 2478 nautical miles.
Siracusa to Benghazi = 377 nautical miles.

Now I wonder why more of your asylum seekers end up in Italy - especially when international law stipulates that asylum seekers are obliged to claim asylum in the first safe country they enter?
Oh and Germany (or rather Merkel) actually invited theirs.

Small wonder both countries are seeing a continued increase in populism.
  • Chancellor Angela Merkel won accolades for her stunning call on Sept 4, 2015, to keep open Germany's doors to hundreds of thousands of asylum seekers, many fleeing war-torn Syria or Iraq.

Three years on, scenes of far-right protesters chasing down foreigners in a German city have shocked the world.

How the EU's migrant farce is seen by the rest of the world.
    ;)
  • Just for good measure here are some statistics of the EU institutions themselves.
    ;)
The EU institutions are overwhelmingly white – and many predict Brexit will make the problem worse. All 28 European commissioners are white. Nearly all government ministers and leaders are white. Of the European parliament’s 751 MEPs, three are black, compared to the 22 there would be if the institution represented Europe’s black population.

Have a read. See just how diverse the EU really is.

Typical: can't raise any decent arguments, so accuse people (whether overtly or covertly) of one of the many 'isms', of which there is a rather large choice these days (racism is a common one, then fascism).

I really don't have time to find information for you that is freely available.

Just stating facts. Comrade Corbyn usually gets trotted out when someone is out of arguments. At least you haven't called him a terrorist.
Can you tell me one thing Corbyn lied about?
How do you feel about May's constant lies?
