At least TM has suggested shes willing to respect the wishes of Gibaltarians. The EU see them as bargaining chips, theres no detracting from that.
Thank you for caring about British Citizens not living in the UK.
Few people have expressed any caring thoughts about our problems caused by Brexit.
Those of us in this predicament thank you. There will be no Brexit dividend for Britain.0 -
In a move that surprises no-one, ECJ agree that Brexit is reversible. Unlikely to be sufficient for cogito though.

How does one get on with the task at hand?
Those I spoke to last night that were at the hearing yesterday morning said they hope for a ruling very, very early in the new year. There will be no Brexit dividend for Britain.0 -

If Brexit gets cancelled the Tory party will haemorrhage support to a new populist movement that will also soak up Labour Brexit voters. Brexit is precisely the pressure valve that has avoided the kind of mass populism sweeping through Europe. Bring it on, cancel Brexit, but please no whinging when what replaces it you 'liberals' find even worse.
I'm hearing lots of people saying it's time to drain the political / establishment swamp.
Just consider this week alone what the swamp has delivered us;
1) Lots of vocal 'progressives' saying hyena lawyers will pursue police officers that knock violent moped criminals off their bikes. This is atop all those poor military veterans that have faced one trial after another making their lives a living hell, whilst the same 'liberal' establishment welcomes home ISIS fighters that are entitled to state benefits.
2) 12" zombie knife wielding criminal that terrorised a high street, already convicted of knife robbery, let off by Judge and ordered to do a little litter picking. This at a time when young boys are being stabbed to death every week.
In the same week, an illegal egg collector was jailed for 18 weeks.
3) Rotherham rape gang leader's human rights upheld by the council granting him rights to see the child of the girl he raped.
Time to drain the swamp, re-salt the earth and start over.Restless, somebody pour me a vino.0 -
Today's numpty Treasury forecasts rely on assumptions.
Those assumptions are made in the minds of Civil Servants & their appointed economists.
Those assumptions do not assume the BENEFITS of Brexit such as for example being able to import Asian car electronics with zero or lower tariffs which would make our car exports more competitive.
As ever, forecasts for the gullible.Restless, somebody pour me a vino.0 -

I would have expected/hoped for either:
1) retain close ties with the EU but be open and honest about it, actually stay in the customs union rather than fudge it.
or 2) pursue a "hard" Brexit but be honest about the issues it throws up. Accept a border in Ireland of sorts and don't pretend that trade will be frictionless.
At least that way half the country would be on side plus you'd have the chance of winning over a chunk in the middle.
May's approach please no-one and she isn't getting on with the task in hand. When her deal is rejected we're back to square one! The absolute first stage of Brexit was deciding on hard or soft and May dodged the choice pretending we could have both.0 -
Can we save the nonsense about the politicians overturning Brexit or ignoring what people want, the only way Brexit won't happen now is if people vote for it not to happen, that isn't ignoring the populace, that is the populace changing their minds.
Equally Brexit isn't stopping populist movements in the UK, the Labour party is a populist left wing party now, the Tories are pretty much heading down the populist right wing path themselves as they undergo UKIPisation, they used to be the party of encouraging business and economic growth, now seem to be becoming the party of blaming immigration for all of our problems0 -

I'm pretty sure that most independent economists are doing their best to model all upsides and downsides of the outcomes (although obviously it is hugely complex to try to do so).
Maybe not including some of the more "optimistic" trade deal assumptions some of the more enthusiastic Brexiteers come up with.
Anyone who thinks that if we leave with No Deal, that the likes of Trump is going to be in a hurry to give us what we perceive as a "fair" deal hasn't been paying much attention to his rhetoric on trade or even his rhetoric on deals.
In short I'm sure economic forecasts won't be 100% accurate but I would rather pay attention to them than to politicians telling me it will all be ok if only we were a bit more optimistic and had more self belief, if economic crises were that easy to solve the GFC would never have happened......0 -

Its amazing weve not seen another party pop up.
I had hoped to see a more libertarian party (or the libertarian party) come to attention but it appears were still stuck with red or blue. Even though time and time again both parties fail on their promises.
Big government, nanny state, bureaucracy and lack of autonomy. This is what brexit is about. Its hard to think that a libertarian approach wouldnt offer solutions for this.LPUK stands for lower taxes for both individuals and companies, small government, free speech and individual responsibility. We support free trade and free enterprise whilst believing that people should make their own choices and not rely on the government. We support a withdrawal from the European Union and a return to the free trade agreements that it was founded on.

FPTP makes it very difficult for new national parties to break through without a massive rupture in British politics0
