The trouble seems to be that the EU would like us to pay for the room but not use the bed. Or the shower. Or any facilities at all really. ;)

In other words we pay for the room but can only try to peer into this room through a window where the blinds are drawn.

Hotel EU is only asking us to pay for the room and services we've already committed to. If we don't want to use them before we leave that's not their problem.

Do you really not realise that the proposal equals the UK basically becoming a vassal state and this is why so many MP's are openly slating the plan?
Absolutely it leaves us as a vassal state, as we said Mays fudge would do about 4 seconds after she announced it 2 years ago. It's a dreadful plan, but less dreadful than leaving because it'll at least leave the lights on.

There's no Brexit deal worse than WTO, and no Brexit deal better than Remaining. It's all about choosing the extent of the damage in between and determining who you want to upset the least.

And if you dislike the analogy blame your bff Herzlos who continued the theme.
I'm only following on from kabayiri's implication that the EU will never let us leave.

Sounds like he's open to the idea of us staying, which apparently wasn't the case a page or 2 ago.

I don't see this as any departure from anything; his stance is completely unchanged. He's hidden nothing.

Pathetic. Not everyone plays this game of one side v the other. I’m just asking a question.

I’m not defending the deal, but the deal is what it is precisely because we still want to “use the facilities”

If you were just asking the question why the nastiness BTW and you've been playing your remainer side for as long as I can see in this thread, haven't you?
Let's see how thing pan out with BoJo as leader. :D

No. We are being prevented from using them as said earlier, do try to keep up.

The nastiness came from you suggesting that I am somehow in collusion with someone else just because we both supported remain. I treat leavers as individuals and with respect and have been treated likewise by other leavers here, which I kind of got used to.
I’m not playing any side, I’m just discussing the issues and I have found myself in agreement with some leavers more than some remainers. Sad that some just see everyone on the other side as the same.

Another one down; Trade envoy and Tory vice chair Rehman Chishti has resigned.

She was due to give a press conference anyway or do you have knowledge of something else in the offing?
    No knowledge.....just lots of speculation:-

Since you both have the same stance there IS collusion whether you like to admit it or not. Saying "there is no logic in what you're saying" was nastiness towards me and if you think not AND you're sure about treating as individuals and with respect why did you not equally ridicule Herzlos' post using the analogy before I did? So much for "discussing the issues".
It is indeed sad when some remainers cannot admit the bias that they display so openly in their posts and even more sad when these individuals resort to insult.

I agreed with herzlos on this, that doesn't mean I always do or that I am biased. I disagreed with your post, nothing to do with the analogy. Obviously as a remainer I will agree more often with remainers, but as I said before I agree with many of the leavers here as well. Bet you've never agreed with a remainer. Thats the difference between me and you. I'm trying to find common ground and am genuinely interested in the debate respecting both sides, you just want to points score against the other side.

She would have had more leeway to find meaningful compromises if she hadn't botched the General Election so badly,

What difference would it have made. There would still be fundamental differences of opinion. The UK cannot dictate to Brussels. Nor Brussels to the UK. Stalemate is stalemate. All parties walk away.
