Sky’s Faisal Islam has posted this from his interview with Theresa May.
NEW: PM tells me on @SkyNews that WTO tariffs “would kick in” if there’s a No Deal Brexit in a few months time:
“we would go onto the basis of WTO tariffs and so those world trade organisation tariffs would kick in”
10% on cars, 30%+ dairy, 3% engines...
Well done Brexiteers....thank you for screwing your country!0 -
Infinitely preferable than your lot!

What do you mean ‘your lot’?
I can flip flop between all sorts matey. At the moment i’ve got little choice but to take a smidgeon of credibility over the shambolic alternatives.
You should appreciate such things being 2016 Blairite of the year, followed by the winner of momentum’s 2017 best brainwashing award.0 -

Old news - we knew this before the referendum.
BTW, do try to contain your foul-mouthed despair.
Nothing has happened yet.
Put March 29th 2019 in your calendar because if WTO happens and if such tariffs take effect (note: that is 2 "if's" there alone) then would be the time to express despair.
Preferably without the use of your expletives.0 -

I find the refusal to acknowledge that the EU are the ones pushing for a WTO Brexit extremely amusing.
The resultant increase in freedom from the EU appeals to many people.0 -
For anyone interested in dealing with facts ,this study of a WTO Brexit, and the other options, was published yesterday and is a long yet comprehensive read.

Pretty much summarises the ostrich approach to reports complied and peer reviewed by experts in their field.
Amazed you managed to read this in less than 8 minutes
Much easier to rely on the rubbish churned out by the IEA / EFT ( they are one and the same)0 -

We can always have a look at the LSE.rebuttal of the Economists for Free Trade assertions
Models are imperfect but they are the best information we have

There is no evidence that there is a swing to remain. My complaint is that if these MPs are convinced that leaving customs union and free market will be a absolute disaster and we can't be in either without accepting 4 freedoms they should not have voted for a referendum let alone to trigger article 50.
"Only a fool would leave the single market". It wasn't really a consideration when article 50 was triggered. It shouldn't have been triggered without a coherent plan and I'm not defending it.
There's plenty of evidence of a swing. Sure it's polling but there's no other way to gauge public opinion and they've been pretty consistent.0 -

Unlike the costs associated with the EU, not all of which are purely financial.
The people didn't choose higher costs. They chose all the benefits of being in the EU, without those horrible foreigners coming here making british people look bad.
What non-financial costs are there?I'm getting really peed off with MPs saying I respect the result of referendum then going on to show they don't.
I respect the result of the referendum, it was something that was pretty much an equal split of those who wanted to stay in the EU as those who wanted to leave.
It's the leavers who don't respect the result. They aren't willing to compromise to the other half of the country. A so called brexit in name only is the only way to respectfully deliver the result.Joan_number_1 wrote: »After all, if they had listened to Dave we would not have had a referendum ........ and there wouldn't have been the proliferation of Populism across EU countries that continues to gather pace to this day.
They did listen.
Free movement of people is a good thing. Without it there is very little chance they will offer us a good deal because of the corruption in the UK government. As soon as a foreign company tries to compete with one of the MPs companies then they'll have their work permits turned down. It's what we've always done.
But free movement doesn't mean someone can pitch up and say they are unemployed so please give us benefits, that is how we chose to implement it.
The UK government chose not to implement sending people home if they couldn't find a job. The UK government chose not to stop immigrants coming from new countries. The UK government chose to not man immigration at airports. It's as if they wanted the people to become disillusioned with immigrants as a way of seizing power.
Blaming the EU is just what they do, it sounds great in the leavers heads because it is designed to appeal to base emotions. As a remainer, I prefer not to let the government hoodwink me into giving up the many rights the EU has given us.Looks like the EU cherry picking again.
You don't understand what cherry picking is. The plans that the UK have put forward are terrible, they will reject it wholesale. Although this seems to just be to pacify the brexiters, she's said that a future trade deal with the EU could allow free movement again.0
