Corbyn has never been squeeky clean either.
Those in politics are human beings, believe it or not.
It's just another example of Boris the Liars personal moral compass. But I suspect like Trump, Brexiteers will forgive him anything as long as it means brexit.
I honestly am unaware of Corbyn doing anything on the scale of Johnson, despite not being squeaky clean. What's he done that's as bad?0 -
Hammond admits that no deal brexit means government cuts, surprising no-one:

Voters in Sweden are the next group of EU citizens looking to give social democratic politics a good kicking at the weekend.
Mainland Europe is changing, I still don’t detect a burgeoning realisation of that fact in Brussels however.

I see that Bavaria look likely to follow soon, further increasing AfD's standing.
I still don't detect a burgeoning realisation of the fact that Europe is changing from our usual suspects here either, with so many of them oblivious of increasing populism in the face of continued belligerence from Brussels.0 -

Most of the usual suspects on here choose to ignore mainland Europe’s growing penchant for populist politics in favour of slinging insults at those who merely chose to vote in a binary referendum differently from them.
The idea that Brexit acted as a vent in the U.K. for mainland European type populism probably has some merit.“Britain- A friend to all, beholden to none”. 🇬🇧0 -
Here's one the usual suspects probably won't like.Europe outside the EU is thriving - and the UK can tooItaly is heading back into recession. France is stagnating again, and even Germany is slowing down with yet another plunge in factory orders this week. As the final quarter of the year starts, it is clear that the non-EU Europe will grow faster than the EU.
Paywalled but if you register you can read it free.
It makes a convincing case for being free of EU constraints.0 -
The usual suspects are well aware of the populist movements and how they usually collapse as soon as they get any foothold.
There is obviously a large rise in the right wing at the moment, but I don't think it'll result in the collapse of the EU or any vindication. Here's one the usual suspects probably won't like.

Switzerland, Iceland and Norway all have very close ties to the EU, so I'm not sure the EU is the problem here?
They may have some additional levers for economic stimuli, but there's no reason to assume that just because Switzerland is doing well "out of the eu" that somehow the UK will magically manage it too.
That's like saying those guys jumped off that cliff and survived, so I'll be fine jumping off this one.0 -

Iceland and Norway are in the EEA. Switzerland isn't, but has oodles of bilateral treaties that amount to something similar. They may have some additional levels for economic stimuli, but there's no reason to assume that just because Switzerland is doing well "out of the eu" that somehow the UK will magically manage it too.
What do you mean by "additional levels for economic stimuli"?
Iceland almost went bust but now has a fiscal deficit considerably smaller than Scotland's. Switzerland's is tiny, and Norway has a surplus thanks to having bucketloads of oil.
Successful economies don't need a stimulus.0 -

Lloyd George sh***ed anything in a skirt. Driberg was a notorious cottager. Etc and so forth.
Politicians can occasionally be a source of entertainment...

Laying a wreath on the grave of a terrorist? Cosying up to various terrorist groups? Being a racist and an anti-semite?
There is something wrong with your moral compass if you think that isn't as bad as indulging in the usual Ugandan activities.0 -
