Bit of a pain with the $ exchange at the minute as 2 weeks back i was getting my dollars at 1.92 and now they seem to be falling daily to which the rate was $1.83 to the £1.

I go to Las vegas at the end of this month but luckily I have purchased the majority of my money and just need another $1000 which I was going to get when i am paid at the end of the month but the way the rate is going I think I will be lending money off family and getting my dollars at the weekend as knowing my luck they will continue to drop on a daily basis

It will be the best rate available on the day of the transaction. (1.90 approx today for example)

What the daily rate will be on the day you actually need the money is a matter of currency speculation.

Thanks for the repy. So, if I reckon the rate will drop between now & mid October, when we go, I should get cash now. If I think it'll be about the same, or higher, I should get one of those cards.

Going by the last week or so it might be better to get cash now...

Basically yes, if you are convinced your views are right. I make no comment on that.

Bear in mind NW has a built in 4 or 5% advantage anyway (so a fall of that amount is irrelevant) and that you will lose interest on the money you use to buy now - maybe a % or so.

Look also at buying now for delivery in October - I've no idea what forward rates are at the moment.

I used Crown Currency Exchange last year with no problems and have ordered with them again this year. They are launching a pre-paid card at the start of October and at the moment they are giving a pretty good rate on it (slightly higher than their £:$ cash rates). Their rates have fallen about 2cents today (I ordered for Dec and got $1.90 for putting money onto their pre-paid card - it was $1.8906 at the time for cash).....and the pound looks in freefall at the moment, so I'd act quick if you're going to do it.

CCE do free delivery of cash on your specified date, and their pre-paid card is free to use abroad for purchases (Mastercard) and $3 per withdrawal.
