without a doubt. the dollar is on the turn most financial analysts are predicting a sharp ris in the dollar over the coming months. you should always set yourself a limt that you are willing to drop to. mine wass 1.85 so i bought today from travelex whose rate is still just inder 1.85 (most others are 1.82 at best).

I remember the days of 1.28 dollars to the pounds so for me best to play safe.

Can someone please clarify something for me please.

Am i right in assuming that if the high street dollar is at for example - 1.80
Visa exchange rate is at - 1.87

Then if i use my Barclaycard Visa in the US for buying goods with the 2.75% charge i will be getting the dollar at 1.82 which is still better than the high street?

Or are my maths out a bit?

And are there any other hidden charges i have not accounted for?

Yes this looks about right, hence why the Nationwide card is the way to go because you don't pay any commission at all.

Unless the VISA rate drops to below what you can order the currency for now. Crown Currency Exchange has a future rate of 1.8477 for when I want it - first week of October. VISA rate is currently 1.87, but may drop. I'm not sure what to do for the best.

I know, its a pain. On the other hand it may rise and you could be left at 1.8 whilst the rate is 1.96.

Its a risk you have to take.

Having noticed my loccal post office had a rate of 1.91 just over a week ago I am severley kicking myself for not acting. Just used travelex for 1.844 today, seems better than the rest and can pick up at airport, OH is frequent flyer so works well. Breathing a sigh of relief never seen the dollar fall every day.
