cheer up Pamela, over the cost of your holiday, the currency fluctuation won't make much difference.
Hiya
The way I was working it out was, we were planning on taking £2000.00 worth so would have got $3940 at the 1.97 rate and now getting $3860 at the 1.93 rate, so diff would be $80 so approx £41.00?
My fault for hanging about and not doing anything :rolleyes:0 -

Don't sweat it and be chuffed that its not floating around the $1.50 mark like it was a few years ago.0 -
thanks, I guess thats a better way of looking at it.
Just don't know whether to jump in now or see if it rises again.
Was also trying to keep the money offsetting against my mortgage for as long as poss but think I have lost more on the exchange rate than I have gained on the offsetting!0 -

Pamela - if you get a Nationwide Current Account (Flexaccount) it comes with a debit card which you can use in US ATM's to withdraw cash at a better rate than you'll find at any bureau de change.
This is the rate you'll get with a Nationwide Debit Card: Current VISA exchange rate
Take a look at the Spending Overseas article for full details0 -
Check out this website: www.forecasts.org/pound.htm.
If you believe this change it now before it drops like a stone. It convinced me to change my pounds today as I don't think it will get much better.0 -

I have bitten the bullet and secured my money with Thomas Exchange Global...link through this site seemed to be best rates... fixed at 1.92 dollars for cash and 1.90 for US trav chqs. No sooner had I got the confirmation email at those rates for the next 4 days to allow me to get the money to them, I went back to check something on the website and it had dropped down to 1.90 for cash....seems to be dropping daily.
Glad I did not lose out on any more!0 -
