You'll have little chance of getting those seats. Virgin flights have seats that can be booked up to 336 days in advance. My tickets havent arrived yet. I rang Virgin a few weeks ago (4 weeks pre flight) and was given some booking reference for virgin atlantic. This means I was the best part of a year behind everyone else. When I looked there was almost nothing available. I was looking for those seats you mention at the back as I would like a block of 4 but no way was that possible. I have a block of 4 in the middle but that suits us as we have 2 aisles to go at.
I'm gonna be there at check-in though to see if I can beat someone to those seats that they havent allowed me access to. Its a bit of a risk though as I was moved recently on a flight from Chicago to Heathrow that I had pre-booked and they didn't tell me. I was given the seat from hell in the middle of a row next to two people who were both 25 stone+. I am not prejudiced in any way as my dad is big but both of them could hardly stand up never mind move for me.

when the online checking in opened 24 hours before the flight someone else took my "reserved" seats.
they may have closed this loophole now... needless to say i was fuming... but if you can nick someone else's seats it'll be payback enough for me....0 -

We always reserve those seats too, only actually sat in them once ! We were told by VS when I kicked off about it that they sometimes sell these seats at check in for an additional £70. Hence, they bump people from them.0 -

15:17 21Apr09 GBP/USD: Pound bouncing back - Due to popular song?
[14:17 GBP/USD: Pound bouncing back - Due to popular song?] London, April 21.
Cable has been helped off a European morning low of 1.4478 (plumbed at 8am BST) to a high of 1.4640 by a song. Members, thought to be non-gay, of an internet website are thought to behind the surprising rise.
A noisey rendition of "come on pound, turn it round", fuelled by spring sunshine and copious amounts of Pimms, could be heard from the trading floors shortly after 3pm today.
This phenomenon could well spread to New York later today. Bagels with Union Jack icing have been seen heading towards wall street.
The Asian market, always up for a good sing song are clearing their throats as we speak.
There are talks of "5hit on the Dorrar... 5hit on the Dorrar today" and "Ing-er-rand, Ing-er-rand, Ing-er-rand" making an appaearance during trading.
Cable currently at 1.4625

I dont think its a loophole. I wanted a block of 4 in the center just behind the bulkhead for the extra legroom, but thought better of it as I could be moved later.
I think they move people as they need to. I was in Portland in June last year and on the flight from Chicago, me and a colleague had 2 of the seats behind the bulkhead picked at check-in. We even had a boarding pass with these seats on. They still moved us as they have a family with small children and they took priority. We got to the seats and someone was waiting at the seat to tell us to sit in a different seat.
I was well mad. Mind you I was more concerned about the toilet sign coming on when taking off as I had consumed about 4 pints of bud in the departure area and was desperate. Every minute lasts an hour when your like that. After 35 mins we were still climbing and I got up anyway. Any longer would have been a real bad idea.
