  • neil, does my mrs have to sign up for the flying club with virgin? i don't quite understand how the air miles thing works. does the miles for mine and her flight get added to my account?
i just went on the website to book a trip, put in our exact dates etc and it says we would earn a total of 10,807 air miles, does this sound about right to you?

I dont think its a loophole. I wanted a block of 4 in the center just behind the bulkhead for the extra legroom, but thought better of it as I could be moved later.

I think they move people as they need to. I was in Portland in June last year and on the flight from Chicago, me and a colleague had 2 of the seats behind the bulkhead picked at check-in. We even had a boarding pass with these seats on. They still moved us as they have a family with small children and they took priority. We got to the seats and someone was waiting at the seat to tell us to sit in a different seat.

I was well mad. Mind you I was more concerned about the toilet sign coming on when taking off as I had consumed about 4 pints of bud in the departure area and was desperate. Every minute lasts an hour when your like that. After 35 mins we were still climbing and I got up anyway. Any longer would have been a real bad idea.

I had my seats booked by someone on the net when the 24 hour period opened. i logged on 23hr and 45 mins before the flight and someone had managed to go over my reservation.
oh, and you deserve to suffer if you drink bud ;)

There are 4 versions of the 747... so not sure which it'll be!

Airbus is better as it's 2-4-2 seating config. So you've got a good chance of being on the 2.
Found them by pretending to book flights on the Virgin website

There are 4 configurations. You need to login with you reference and you should be able to see the config for your flight. Mine is config 1 from gatwick and its VS027.

1 account. she can put her miles on your account too (or vice versa - i've already seen who wears the trousers ;) )
that sounds like the full miles. you might get it knocked down slightly.
virgin airlimes are on a rolling 3 year cycle. if you don't use your account for 3 years - you lose them. it's worth getting the free credit card to see keep the account updating.

i have a virgin credit card but its just a normal virgin one, i think you have to have the american express on to get airmiles on it. i just put my wedding on it the other day. thought there may be a way of getting air miles for that? some credit cards offer a bonus scheme if you spend money on it you get points back?

i used to have a normal and a black one.
they both used to be mastercard. got about 15,000 miles for taking each out.
got about 15,000 miles to swapping them both to amex too.

i think it's just the amex one where you get airlimes... take one out... you'll get 3000 miles for doing nowt! well, except for applying for the card... obviously... ;)
