Hiya Folks,
Probably the same question as you get all of the time but I am going to NY on 07 May and want to know when I should buy my currency and where from. I have started getting interested in this thread as a result and I can see people advocate buying when it hits a certain level. I did note it was very low in feb time and it seems to have improved a little. Can you guys offer advice, I know it is all a bit of a gamble, but if you guys think it is good at the moment then I would get it sooner rather than later. Thanks

16:46 21Apr09 Cable: UK clearer sends Gbp flying
15:45 GMT - A UK clearer is said to have been a very good size seller of Eur/Gbp into and just after European close. The cross remains under pressure and these flows have certainly played a part in the [CABLE] climb to 1.4675 highs. There has been talk through the course of the day of Gbp buying for corporate dividend day, while there is also convenient chatter of M&A flows.
We suspect the broad Gbp gains could be just as much down to the fickle return of positive sentiment to FX markets. US stocks are nowtrading in the black and rightly or wrongly Gbp is a keen tracker of such sentiment and an outsize mover. No real major obstacles likely until the 1.4730/70 area in the headline. Please take the time to have a look around my Daughter's website www.daisypalmertrust.co.uk

16:59 21Apr09 GBP/USD: Stocks Helping Cable Run, More Asset Purchases Coming
[15:59 GBP/USD: Stocks Helping Cable Run, More Asset Purchases Coming] Boston,
April 21st. Cable is basically following stocks at this point, moving higher just as it moved lower Monday when equities were on the decline. The move is being helped by weakness in EUR/GBP and strength in GBP/JPY, but is mostly a USD weakness situation on the reversal of yesterday"s gains. Most likely, so long as
stocks keep moving up GBP/USD will be supported.
The one cautionary point, however, is the fact that US afternoons have become snoozefests of late. The market is probably a little stretched to the upside at the moment. That could facilitate a shift to a more consolidative stance in the near term.
In terms of something which has the potential to provide further money supply related pressure on sterling, the EU came out a short while back indicating approval of the UK asset-backed purchase plan. That"s basically a GBP 50 billion program to support the mortgage market by purchasing the securities.
It"s not QE, but essentially does the same thing: put more cash in the market and will likely be supportive of the BoE"s Gilt purchase programs. This is probably not something which will have a real impact on sterling, but anyone looking for a bearish argument has an extra one. Please take the time to have a look around my Daughter's website www.daisypalmertrust.co.uk

You'll have little chance of getting those seats. Virgin flights have seats that can be booked up to 336 days in advance. My tickets havent arrived yet. I rang Virgin a few weeks ago (4 weeks pre flight) and was given some booking reference for virgin atlantic. This means I was the best part of a year behind everyone else. When I looked there was almost nothing available. I was looking for those seats you mention at the back as I would like a block of 4 but no way was that possible. I have a block of 4 in the middle but that suits us as we have 2 aisles to go at.
I'm gonna be there at check-in though to see if I can beat someone to those seats that they havent allowed me access to. Its a bit of a risk though as I was moved recently on a flight from Chicago to Heathrow that I had pre-booked and they didn't tell me. I was given the seat from hell in the middle of a row next to two people who were both 25 stone+. I am not prejudiced in any way as my dad is big but both of them could hardly stand up never mind move for me.
