There are 4 versions of the 747... so not sure which it'll be!

Airbus is better as it's 2-4-2 seating config. So you've got a good chance of being on the 2.
Found them by pretending to book flights on the Virgin website

This is what we flew home on on Sunday (VS008). My daughter and I sat in 53H&K which were fine (my husband sat across the aisle in 53G.

The seats I would definitely not want are rows 44, 45 and 46, (unless you like the noise, sight and smells of the near constant use of lavatories as the toilet door opens directly onto these rows )

    BA0287 is indeed a 747.
Rows 51 / 52 B+C or H+J are the dogs danglies on this one.
2 seats on their own. lots of storage space by the window.

Oh, the $ is at 1.4535 at present. We've had a little downhill movement...

You'll have little chance of getting those seats. Virgin flights have seats that can be booked up to 336 days in advance. My tickets havent arrived yet. I rang Virgin a few weeks ago (4 weeks pre flight) and was given some booking reference for virgin atlantic. This means I was the best part of a year behind everyone else. When I looked there was almost nothing available. I was looking for those seats you mention at the back as I would like a block of 4 but no way was that possible. I have a block of 4 in the middle but that suits us as we have 2 aisles to go at.

I'm gonna be there at check-in though to see if I can beat someone to those seats that they havent allowed me access to. Its a bit of a risk though as I was moved recently on a flight from Chicago to Heathrow that I had pre-booked and they didn't tell me. I was given the seat from hell in the middle of a row next to two people who were both 25 stone+. I am not prejudiced in any way as my dad is big but both of them could hardly stand up never mind move for me.
