Nov /Dec is bad for car payments so birthdays just add to that - although I actually have money put aside this year!0
-
I have a rough budget of £600, but like every year, i usually go way over budget..
Brothers bday 5th dec - £20
My bday 16th Dec - off to see Take That so around £100 for hotel and food etc
xmas
The bloke - £50
Kids - eldest 2 (10 and 5) £75 each, youngest 2 (18months and 6 months) £25 each
Dad - £15
bro - £15
mum - £15
grandad - £15
the blokes parents - £15
I don't bother with the rest of the family, if i did it would cost a fortune (Greek family)
Plus all the food and drink which is around £100.
I think that leaves £100 ish spare (maths not to hot) which is my gift and a new xmas tree.
Oh, and its my son's 6th birthday on the 6th Jan.. so thats more money0 -
I dont really set a budget as such but I start buying (only exceptional diso!!!!ed offers) from the January. I also regularly use Hotdeals and snap up good offers that come up. I save all my Pigsback, Quidco money and anything else, so I dont physically spend much money at Xmas.
Anything I sell on Ebay goes to a high interest account and I use some of this if I see a bargain. I receive John Lewis, M&S and Debenhams vouchers through out the year and then use them towards sale items in the stores.
OH-Xbox 360 games(vouchers/discounted), PJ's (M*S sale), shirts x 2 (M*S sale) smellies etc etc
DD-GHD Straightners (  ...used some vouchers towards these...loads of other stuff using vouchers or hotdeals
Sister-Radley purse (ebay using money selling goods)
Niece/Nephew-Boots items 3 for 2 or reduced
Folks-Mum her fav Hermes perfume and free gift (boots points)...Dad a few DVD's and PJ's reduced in M&S sale
Xmas food will be from John Lewis using shopping vouchers I have saved up and from here etc.
Actual physical spend....about £50:D

I have budgeted £300.00 this year to cover my family (unfortunately I now have two sets of parents so double the numbers). Will be trying to keep costs down with hampers and pigsback vouchers too.
We are also putting buying a non perishable food thing extra each week and keeping them aside, eg a bottle of wine etc. This should keep the Christmas food shop down.

Ive just seen your Christmas budget IA and I think youre very sensible limiting the spending for Kaitlyn to £30. When they are that young they do not know the difference and they are just as happy with the box or the paper. A lot of people make the mistake of spending large amounts on babies but it is better to invest it for later on when they start asking for everything.
I have not thought about Christmas at all yet. I know that this is a mistake but my OH said to me not to save for Christmas as he had a cash job and he said that I could have some of it for Christmas so i paid all the savings off the debt. Now he wants to buy a new boiler and radiators with that money butthat leaves me in a bit of a quandary.
Ive told him Im not getting into debt again over Christmas this year as we did last year, I would rather have roast chicken on Christmas Day and no presents. The central heating will be a good enough present for me but its everyone else Im thinking of. I had hoped that i could pay some money off the debt in November from my pay but I think now that it might have to do for Christmas. Why dont I just pay it off the debt and let him worry about it? I could, I suppose, but he would tell me to use the credit card. :eek:The forest would be very silent if no birds sang except for the birds that sang the best0
