Am just trying to work out the christmas budget... considering last year was seriously tight as we'd not long had our LBM I want this christmas to be less tight and stressful which is why I've got a christmas temp job (that and the discount
)..
so how do you work out a christmas budget? We should've paid off our credit cards by then but I'm finding it hard to draw up a budget!

I sat down a little while ago and looked through what wrapping paper I had left over for the last few years (I think I have enough to paper my house
) I did the same with Christmas card, and I have handmade a few so don't need to worry about that.
Then I sat down and worked out what I wanted to spend on the people I buy for. Mum and I have a set limit of £50 and my best friend and I agreed of £20 (we are doing stocking for each other)
I've already started my shopping and have a spreadsheet which has everything written on it. I've even managed to come in under budget on a few items.
I dion't know if that's any help.Current debt - £16,300Debt at worst 17/03/2011 - £18,067.62:eek::eek::ANot going anywhere else, ever again :A0 -
Christmas is about the only time of year I'm actually organised with regards to money...
I save week by week with a hamper company for highstreet vouchers which I then use for all the presents and they can be used at Iceland for food too. I make a bit on the commission as I run it for a few family members too, so it works out better tahn a savings account.
I save up a certain amount, thats my budget and thats the important bit-sticking to my budget.:heartpuls:heartpuls

This year I'm being really good, I've been surveying, cashbacking and mystery shopping away for months to pay for xmas, I refuse to spend any money other than what I've earned for nothing! All the survey sites plus pigsback I've been paid out in Amazon vouchers so everything I buy this year will have to be from there :rotfl:
Only been doing this since about July and reckon I will be able to get my 3 kids, mum and dh xmas pressies, plus it's my ds and dh's birthdays in a couple of weeks and I've sorted that without having to spend any money!DFW Nerd no. 496 - Proud to be dealing with my debts!!0 -

This is what I do. There are far to many people to buy for at Christmas. I would rather they have a little thing and then something bigger for their birthday.Current debt - £16,300Debt at worst 17/03/2011 - £18,067.62:eek::eek::ANot going anywhere else, ever again :A0 -
Work out who you have to buy for, how much you want to spend on each person, then make that money stretch as far as possible for presents.
Food wise, we've saved our Tesco vouchers, about an extra week's worth of cash and have Nectar points.No longer using this account for new posts from 20130 -
Last year poor OH had nothing as i was really rather broke. This year i am determined to treat him to something nice. Rest of the family will be catered for in inspiration from the hampers board. Dad won't be long post op so won't feel up to much and OH and I have decided on joint pressies for the family. As I am now part of his and he is part of mine (and mines swollen by one this year) it could get bloomin expensive if we didn't!! so I aim to use my ipoints and survey vouchers and keep it as cheap as poss. hopefully £300 max including OH.debt @05/11/11 £12210.63!! slowly chipping away!!:heart2:impossible is nothing.:heart2:0

Hey, I've set a budget of £15-£20 for single people and £25 for couples. I've already started on the hamper idea and I've been clicking for piggypoints and quidco to try and limit how much has to come out of my 'actual' money. If I dont see people all the time then they will just get a bottle of something and I've got loads of wrapping paper left over from the sales last year!

We have set a total budget of £320. Our kids are getting £75 each (£225) and then the rest is getting split between the rest of the family. £5 for each nephew and cousin (£25), £10 for each sibling (£30) and £20 for each set of parents (£40)Olympic Countdown Challenge #145 ~ DFW Nerd #389 ~ Debt Free Date: [STRIKE]December 2015[/STRIKE] September 2015
