That was a really nice meal. Just freshly made stock, a little soy, the last of the bottle of mirin, packet of udon noodles, some frozen peas, broad beans, frozen prawns, small snip of coriander leaves and a pinch of chilli flakes.
And not only did Himself eat it all, he actually asked me if I could make a start on dinner (asking me to do anything for his benefit is practically unheard of); I suppose having the stock drifting through the house for a couple of hours whilst I was making it encouraged that.
Not much in the way of washing up, a bit of putting things away and I'll be under the shower again.I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.Yup you are officially Rock n Roll0 -
Hi all
I have worked 28 hours in three days - in silly heat. However, I have got the promotion that I have hoped and dreamed of for the past 3 years. It hasnt sunk in yet.
DS2 has hoovered, I have flicked the duster around, DH made tea.
I know I am not supposed to say it but I am tiny bit sick of this heat. Does it not just feel a bit strange to be this hot all the time?0 -

Congratulations!
This weather is vile. I hate it even more than the cold. Weeks ago, when it was only supposed to be in the high seventies, the thermometer in my office was registering 94. All I can say is that I'm glad we broke up on Friday, as the temperature in there this week must be obscene.
Put tins, sealed plastic packets and jars of grain/flour/pulses in the newly cleaned cupboard, leaving loads of space for less used things (slowcooker until September, whistling kettle he couldn't find when the electric one packed up - it was in exactly the place I'd said it was & my vases, for example) in the bit that disappears round the back. It reminds me a bit of my Granddad's pantry/larder without the full length bit, slab of marble - or the flypaper.
Grumping because the recycling was not collected this week and they don't come back to get it, so both boxes are full to overflowing. They're too busy abandoning four full size wheelie bins per household across the borough, irrespective of whether or not the property has a front garden, to concern themselves with actually collecting the stuff.
I have a few glassware thingies to wash up, which can wait until tomorrow, have swept up all the scraps of pasta and noodles, etc, that were taken out of the manky cupboard, and then I can get on with a few more things in the morning.
I'm thinking about the small cupboards. One is baking equipment and one is, well, I'm not sure, possibly a few ingredients that probably haven't been touched for five years. So they can go without a second thought.
Himself didn't get around to doing the floors and I don't expect him to start vacuuming or mopping at this time of night, but he has seemed to be popping down to do nothing much - checking on me, possibly, as I am obviously struggling in the heat - struggling? Just bending over to put a jar of kidney beans on the bottom shelf had me pouring with sweat.
I think I've done enough for one day, though. I'm heading for that shower.I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.Yup you are officially Rock n Roll0 -
Morning All
YL - HUUUUGGGGEE CONGRATULATIONS! So pleased for you my lovely. I will post the book this weekend, promise! xx
Piggers - I hope your tummy is easier today x
Sorry but I adore this weather. Everyone is smilier, children can play outside all the time, I can line dry the washing and we are eating outdoors all the time :j
I have stripped our bedding and that is in the WM. DW unloaded, business banking checked, kiddies dressed and eating. I am looking after my nephews today, we are going out for the day so I will be on mega picnic making duty after my shower! An easy tea of chicken goujons, baked camembert, crusty bread and crudites for dinner.
Have lovely days all xxMFW

Having a coffee but I've already decluttered DS to the station. He's moving workplaces next week though and will be working at the branch in our town, near Aldi so less expensive and a lie in for him
,
Congratulations YL
Washing already on line, painting aprons and the cloth that drapes over a storage area. Have another lot to go out later. Also brought home from work the cloths I used to clean up yesterday, they were left to dry on line so I don't put them in the laundy basket damp ( and getting whiffy) as I will wash them with towels, when I have a full load.
Bin has been emptied. Will check later to see if it needs washing out. I also want to sweep step and drive. This needs to be done before it rainsDon't put it DOWN; put it AWAY"I would like more sisters, that the taking out of one, might not leave such stillness" Emily DickinsonJanice 1964-2016

Thank you everyone for your tips, I will try the bleach tonight while im out with the doggie,
I feel like I have got so much to do and little time to do it in, and of course I managed to find time late last night to chuck the hair dye on as I am at a wedding on Saturday for them to have changed the formula and it got everywhere and I have had to come to work with dyed ears, back of neck, etc etc. furious but the bathroom has had a good clean.:o:o

Congratulations YL.
Thank you to whoever sent over their guag yesterday. It was much appreciated, as I actually shifted myself to clean the bathroom and shower, plus got the grocery shop done. I was 30p below the money off voucher requirement, so I put that right for something useful for 50p and got the £6 off. :money: Kerching!
I am sending the guag back now though, as after HHI, I am melting.
I'm off to the small town in a minute to run an errand for DH. Oh and quite possibly to visit the shoe shop sale. I have lived in daps for the entire summer and really would like some sandals. When you have feet the size of coco the clown, that is no easy task...0
