Washing on line.
Breadmaker collected with the able assistance of Himself (thank you HB!). Relieved to find that PayPal hasn't closed my account down due to not using it for four (or is it five?) years and to find my password, more importantly.
Grabby thingummiwotsit retrieved from the Shed of a Thousand Spiders without being eaten alive.
Every single item in the dry goods cupboard removed with the grabby thingummiwotsit (cos I'm not a six foot Polish builder like the guys who fitted the kitchen).
Half a bin bag of flour/wheat related items of questionable safety chucked away. Himself shown the evidence of what has happened in a visual, non confrontational way (ie, not THIS IS WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU DON'T PUT FLOUR INTO THE SEALED JARS I BOUGHT FOR THE PURPOSE AND LEAVE OPEN PACKETS OF BISCUITS HIDDEN FOR MONTHS ON END YOU MUPPET, I DON'T SAY THIS **** FOR FUN YOU KNOW'.
Evil pesticide sprayed inside cupboard at the moths, trying to not kill the eightlegged tenant living down the side of the cupboard in the process. She's frankly rubbish at moths, but she's not bad at the small and tiny flies that annoy me just as much.
Himself is currently up a set of wobbly steps, scrubbing every last inch of the cupboard with equally noxious cleaning spray.
Next will be cleaning sealed jars with hot water and passing them to Himself to put back. And then possibly getting some replacement baking ingredients. To put into the damned expensive sealed jars that are currently empty.
If the replacements are bought, that'll mean clearing all the jars off the windowsill I can't reach. So not my job - but a win-win in my opinion.
If that's done, tomorrow will likely see the bottom cupboard (tins and pasta, IIRC) being bottomed. At least pasta isn't as expensive to replace as all the flaming baking goods.
I WILL have a clean kitchen. I WILL.I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.Yup you are officially Rock n Roll0 -

Um, hello all. Don't think I've posted yet this week.
It is day 2 of my summer holiday hell. I have walked for two hours with dogs and children, fished socks off the pitched hallway roof, experienced a bucket of water dripping down on to me from the bathroom above, through the ceiling, as I was trying to remove biro marks from our very expensive lounge sofa. I have walked 10,000 miles...no, literally I have. Very tired now. Flying is on hold until the morning...0 -
Himself managed to clean the jars and bottles and put them back in a relatively sensible fashion. Which was handy, so I sent him out to get chips rather than [strike]make another mess[/strike] have to get hot cooking tea.
Food scoffed and I've just cleared the windowsill with the grabby thingummiwotsit and done a preliminary sluice over with evil spray and an old washing up sponge, water and the grabby thing, entertained myself by scaring the lodger into running back between the cupboard and the wall whilst I used evil spray on the one moth that had missed the earlier napalm attack somehow and was mocking me from the kitchen ceiling.
How was this entertaining? Well, I can make ridiculous creatures out of such things as pipe cleaners, scraps of paper and thread (my Fingermouse and Scampi are the stuff of legend, apparently - Himself took them to keep in a 'special place' when I did those) and at one point, I made a big old spider with googly eyes. This spider was attached to a chopstick and dangled in front of the lodger's web, at which point she moved like something off a shovel. Seeing as she's resolutely stared me out all day and all night, even when her web is dusted away and generally watches me make tea with absolutely no fear, any other attempt to get her to take cover would have led to tears. Probably mine, as I know her kind carries a rather unpleasant nip on her when truly irritated/threatened.
I know, I should probably get out more. Or work in Primary.
Put in a big online order for things like frozen fruit & vegetables, plain cuts of meat and fish, big bags of spuds, carrots, onions and other root veg, plus other ingredients, which will be coming tomorrow afternoon. Other things can be bought round the corner, but these were the things that you'd have to go to a large supermarket to buy and I just can't face leaving the house for shopping. Himself has looked a bit confused and said I'd need to tell him what to do or do a bit of cooking myself. At last! I'll get to do some cooking again!
I'm sure Himself can handle picking up some washing up sponges and more cleaning gloops round the corner tomorrow.
The floors still need doing properly and I'm going to have to deal with the windowsills upstairs, but I'm not ill, I'm finally finding it a bit easier to move around after my fall, my joints and skin seem to be generally behaving at present, I don't have to go to work :j and whilst he's very grumpy, I'm just ploughing on ahead with getting things done.
This doing bits and pieces throughout the day with lots of rest breaks might even get the house sorted before we finally get to go awayI could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.Yup you are officially Rock n Roll0 -

Morning all,
I had two very tired and grubby children by 4pm yesterday- we had a great day out and we took all our food etc with us so only spends were bus fare :money:
On to today, we are walking to the big yellow & blue shed this morning for them to have an hour in the crèche there whilst I get a free brew with my Family card
I have emptied the DW, cleaned the filter and it's now on with a cleaner tablet in. I'll give the floors a cursory once over as well, not much point doing anything else at the moment, the weather is too lovely not to be outside.
Have lovely days all xxMFW

Morning all
Am trying to fly along with you all, slowly, very slowly once it starts to get a bit hotter. But mainly working through the 'must be done before we go away' list. I have 3 days left so definitely time to panic. I think it is the thought of going into the big romantic city on the 1st day of our hols when it is well over 30° and polution levels are high so driving is restricted (altough we are fine) and it's the last day of the Tour de France and someone said 'can we go shopping on the Champs Elysees' , I know they have come all the way from the USA and are only here for 24 hours but it could be a very long hot 24 hours.
Time to stop moaning and go and change the bed. Actually my house isn't too bad as it's very old and as long as we keep the shutters/curtains closed on the south side stays reasonable and only open up once it's gone cooler then a through draught cools the place down quite quickly.
Might have to resort to a nap this afternoon as we are not eating until it cools down a bit therefore going to bed later but still up at the same time in the morning. Luckily am not working.0 -
Coffee in bed, WM now on third load. A group are going into work today cleaning and clearing. I might go as I can get trays washed and dried.Don't put it DOWN; put it AWAY"I would like more sisters, that the taking out of one, might not leave such stillness" Emily Dickinson
