  • Himself's new medication is beginning to work at helping him to sleep (strong antihistamines), so he tried taking them earlier last night.

He's just starting to move as I type.

I spent the night at the wrong end of the bed as near to the fan as possible and whilst I did sleep, being closer to the window meant I was awake before 7 with the help of the builders in the hut dumped outside the house having loud discussions - they've only just started doing builder-y type things, though, and they'll pack up by 3. I reckon they're being paid by the day, not the job.

    So far, I have

Unblocked the sink of manky bits of food. Bleurgh.

Cleaned the sink and draining board.

Discovered that the permanently stained mugs come up perfectly white and sparkly with hot water; didn't even need any washing up liquid to do it. So how comes they are always stained when they come out of the sink when Himself does it?

Enjoyed a cuppa that looked like tea instead of claggy pond water. And tasted like it, too.

    Next on the list is

    Crap off countertops.

    Bleach, bleach, bleach and scrub.

Once that's done, I'll consider doing the windowsill, but I'm too short to reach it easily.

And it's gone silent upstairs again. When he surfaces, I'll suggest he removes his bristles from the bath that I scrubbed just a couple of days ago.

Hair etc snipped from vacuum beater in anticipation of emptying same as it's black bin week
Every time I go out I am pulling weeds/grass from path crevices and this is going in the green bin.
Stuff for CS by front door

    (((Hugs))) Frodders.
Sage tea or sage capsules reduceds sweating and helps with hot flushes, if anyone's troubled by them in this heat.

Well done for paying it off, ATB.

Pear tree watered, five (or was it six?) duvets and 16 pillows bagged up and squashed into the car along with Kelpie so that I could drop them off at the service laundrette on the way to hydrotherapy. He's got a problem with his right eye I hadn't picked up so he's off to the vet this afternoon.

Health and Welfare LPA photocopied, so now all I've got to do is stamp and sign each page. I began that job last August and by doing it myself with this fabby website's guidance I've saved at least a couple of hundred pounds, and then the same again for OH. Very relieved it's finally done and I can forget about it completely. It had been worrrying me for a decade because neither of my brothers is trustworthy and technically they're my next of kin and the old forms were very scary. Doing it online was very straightforward and highly recommended.

One of our actor types won an after hours crocquet evening here in a local raffle at a quiz we all did in February. She's back doing another play so we arranged to go last night and took a chap from the cast she's rehearsing with at the moment. On the way I read the directions to OH and asked if he's realised we were allowed to take a picnic. How can someone read a letter and not see that sentence? Just as well I saw it when I did, we were two minutes away from Wait**se. We had a fab evening, one of those perfect ones you know you'll remember forever. A big shout out for the National Trust - I've been meaning to go to Cotehele for 30 years and having the garden to ourselves for the whole evening was absolute bliss. They even left the loos unlocked. Defo taking a river trip up there soon to see inside the house very soon.
    Better is good enough.

    Look lovely, HB.

Frodders - I meant to say previously, I can only offer lots of virtual hugs, but lots of good support / advice from Narc0. Hang on in there and keep posting. Xx

I'm wilting here, and have no idea how the builders are keeping going. I'm very grateful that they are, as I now have a front fence which is not propped up for the first time in about 5 years! That and the fact that I got them to move it and reclaim some of our garden from the front to the back is making it look completely different.

Shopping trip completed in relative calm, as the schools in town don't break until Thursday. A short visit to Mr M on the way back got the milk and bread supplies sorted. Flying has been restricted to some light dusting in the dining room, one load of washing and a bit of paperwork. I really need to get some long term paperwork (yes, the LPA is still in the queue) done, and have a serious look at finances. We have been spending lately ( on necessary things, like the fence, but nevertheless) and need to rein it in. The pit, it would appear, is not bottomless.
  • CBA to do the countertop. Did more washing up, loaded WM, cleaned top of freezer, put recycling out, scrubbed bristles off the bath, melted.

He's still fannying about in the studio.

cleaned bathroom (because I had the bucket out) and then have been on errands; two bags of carp went with me, CS and clothes recyling visited.

    Coffee in the garden now

It rained for two minutes which got me off the sun lounger where I've pretty much spent the day, and I've cleaned two windows inside and out, frames and everything.
