But I'm not here to make friends or engage in small talk. It's a technical board. Get the job done and move on. I have a life elsewhere.
    Have a nice evening.

    ^^

Apologies if you have written something of substance, but after seeing your previous posts on this thread, I'm confident that you have not and will not, so have already put you on ignore.

In my eyes you did an excellent job Everywhere. Very succinct and kept too the users level of expertise. I could not have done better.

The extra benefits win 10 of free integrated av and other native protection, larger support pool, much better performance than win 8.1, it is stable o/s, although it hate the forced auto-updates for many it is not a bad thing, just to name a few pluses, and she will have to go this way anyway.

At least one laptop should have been put onto 10, I know she was unwilling, but it was time to persuade her to learn how to ride a new bike.

Thanks that. EveryWhere has also given me the option and resources to move on to Windows 10 in the future. I'm the one who, for now, in technical terms at least, is reluctant to move with the times.

For me getting to this 'advanced' level of being enabled to install an SSD and perform a clean install (and more) is a great step forward. Some might call it baby steps but I'm delighted and I value all the help I've received from EveryWhere - and others too who have shown interest. It is all very much appreciated.

I'm not saying 'never' to Windows 10 but just not yet.

    Thanks again.

I still disagree with this statement. There is no should here. It is totally up to the OP, as long as the OS is being supported with security updates.
Windows 8.1 Update3 also has Windows Defender built-in.
Microsoft announced Windows Defender Advanced Threat Protection (ATP), a set of security tools for Window 10 alone, would be extended to Windows 7 SP1 and Windows 8.1

Larger support pool? Not really an issue.
Better performance? OP appears very happy with current performance. If it changes, we are here.
Stable OS? If the OP has problems with Windows 8.1 Update 3, she is free to move to Windows 10.

Many people complain about the forced updates on Windows 10 Home. Especially when they cause a problem with the device.

As I have stated before, I haven't turned my Windows 10 Pro PC on for more than a year.
There is absolutely no reason to install Windows 10, unless there is incompatibility or a specific problem.

No reports as such. So no need to push the OP into something that she doesn't need at this stage.

Remember, a month earlier, the OP imagined that she was not capable of what she has achieved. Personally, I think because of poor advice previously, rather than a lack of ability.
So the OP may decide on her own accord to install Windows 10 on a machine. Perhaps to dual boot Windows 10 Pro on the Dell.
For now, let her enjoy the fruits of her effort, rather than continually cajoling her about Windows 10.
    In time. :)
