Thank you @savingholmes
I emptied, cleaned & refilled the fridge and freezer yesterday. The freezer’s now arranged into categories to make it easier to see what’s in there. Let’s see how long it lasts.
Budget planner updated to the end of April and we need to make around £200 from the business/other sources, which should be doable.
I’m currently sat in bed with a coffee, watching the sheep outside. I really should get up and clock into work.1 -

Not our sheep, but we would like to get some of our own eventually. We want chickens too. It’s been glorious here today. I’ve been working (from home) unfortunately but managed to take 45 minutes for a lunchtime picnic in the garden.4

Lovely view. Even better in some ways if they're not yours - you get the prettiness without the work.Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

Feeling a little bit lost as the sheep have been moved to another field. It’s strange not watching them when I wake up.
We’ve taken a first step into animal farming ourselves and placed an order for 6 chickens. They're from a rescue but were previously free range and should still be laying. We pick them up next week so need to give their new home some tlc beforehand.
I took a last minute day off work today and we went to a tractor show (mainly for DC3 who loves tractors). They had some really cute toy ones but they were mega expensive. We had a chat with DC3 when we got home and he has ordered a ride on tractor online for a fraction of the price (£60 instead of £280). He used £30 of his own money and we have paid £20, plus a £10 voucher, towards it.
We’ve made a start on the veg garden & planted some mint, parsley and potatoes. I got some rosemary in today’s Olio collection so will need to plant that soon too. We’ve also cut up some old logs and used them to make stepping stones and balance beams for DC3 to play in the garden. We’re planning to make a tyre bridge too.
I’m shattered now so off to bed ready for an early start tomorrow.2 -
Great news about the chickens...
The toy ride on tractors are such fun at that age...my boys loved the one they had, often giving each other lifts around the garden in the trailer attachment!paydbx2025 #26 £890/£5000 . Mortgage start £148k June 23 - now £138k.

Hi Welshkitty, been lurking on your diary for a few weeks slowly reading to all. So glad to see you made your big move to the countryside and sound much happier for it! Sounds like you’re making big progress.0

Thanks all & hello @runningrafan
I’m a little scared to admit this, but we’ve ordered our accommodation and it’s put us back £14,000 in debt. I’m hoping it will be delivered and ready to use before Easter so we can start making some money back from it. I’m crossing everything that’s it was a worthwhile investment and will make us money in the long term. Holiday in Wales, anyone??1 -
It should work out. I have just booked my holiday but a shepherds hut wanted as much as my cottage. Have you sorted planning consent?Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030
