On fortnite you whisper people through the game. This isn't saved so you wouldn't see it.

Just had a read up on this, and I imagine this is exactly what has happened - Thus the bad spelling not actually being from Microsoft, but the way the son has spelt it.

I am waiting for him to get his ban lifted and then I am going to try and test my theory and see what happens!
Good idea. Much better than implementing some belated parental discipline.

How do you get on with the tennis? Do you appeal line calls for him and take his side in umpire disputes, too?

that wouldnt be proof to the OP though, it would be an anomaly because his 8 year old is the next Tim henman and has the manners of an etiquette expert.

I certainly hope he doesn't turn out to be the next TH to be honest!

Got to laugh at all the parenting 'advice' on here, from people who apparently know the OPs child better than they do.

There's no need to know the OP's child to realise that letting an 8 year old play on a video game that is rated for 12+ isn't really a good idea.
Maybe it's the use of this game and the fact that they may well be interacting with loads of older children who are using bad language that has led to the problem that is being discussed.

So what you're saying is that your son (could) potentially get this 'friend' banned by similarly lying to Microsoft.

Why not test this theory ?

If Microsoft fail to ban the 'friend' due to lack of evidence then you know your son is lying to you.

I was going to suggest the same ..

As soon as the sons account is back active , report the "friend" a few times and see if he get banned ..
If he doesnt , then your son is lying

....but the 'friend' is a 'wrong un' as his teachers and others know and will be swearing and cussing anyway so it will prove very little.

It will prove (or disprove) that MS ban people based off 1 single report of hearsay from another player.

It will not be hearsay if MS check and find proof he has in actual fact been swearing.

If xbox/ms banned people simply for swearing, they'd have banned 95% of accounts by now. They'll only take action if other people complain about it.
