My eyes snapped open at 9.05am this morning. Later than I thought they would, but still...
When I got up, lured by the prospect of bacon after a nice cuddle with the Idiot Cat, who has been banned with his Fluffy Grumpy nemesis from the bedroom for the last week as Himself is finding it hard to sleep (no, I am not going to ask what he expects when he's at home all day doing nowt), I realised that, despite the general layer of grime covering everything, there isn't much in the way of tidying to be done (Cynical me says he's stayed in bed/on the computer upstairs for so long after I've left for work, he hasn't made any additional mess in the first place).
I scooted around collecting up his mugs and glasses from upstairs and dumped them on the side and then decided to do some cleaning for a change; mainly because I noticed just how much gunk has already been allowed to sit on the brand new and insanely expensive to me freezer.
So I have;
Wiped the freezer, washing machine and top of the fridge.
Chucked last nights sacrificial offerings to the Greenbottle Gods in the bin. Seriously? It's about a million degrees all day and all night and has been for two months, but it's still acceptable to leave food out and uncovered, then expect me to eat it without complaining?
Picked up a few scraps of paper and gibble that's fallen out of my bag and binned.
Debated relocating the False Widow that's extended her territory over about a foot square from the gap where the kitchen cabinet doesn't quite meet the wall to the kitchen blind (and across the cupboard door up and down to the same height). And opted to leave her until I've emptied the cupboards and found the source of the sodding pantry moths she's gradually despatching with my long term eightlegged lodger at the top of the kitchen window.
Cleaned the front bay windowsill of the evidence of little furry cat toes. So much for the claims of cats being clean - the sill must have lightened about ten shades.
Cleaned (and grumbled to myself about somebody buying rubbish glass cleaning spray because it was cheap and claims to do the job compared to Windowlene Cream which takes a bit of effort but actually works) the glass TV and CD units. Ugh. Brand new yellow cloth turned jet black. And so many smears but no decent stuff and no newspapers or old tights to use to make them smear free.
Attempted to make eightlegged candyfloss with the static duster.
Sworn profusely at the Idiot Cat for launching himself from the window, up the armchair and onto the small bookcase to deal with his natural prey. Then left him with the duster, as he appeared to be having an extremely private moment with it.
Cleaned/degrotted the tops of the bookcases, all Himself's crud on the unit, the tops of the radiators, the consumer unit, the light switches and power switches.
Cleaned the outside of the downstairs loo.
Cleaned the sink and shelf and mirror.
Cleaned the hall mirror.
Cleaned the inside of the front door glass.
Door handles.
Wiped over the settee and put the throw back over it to hide the tears, cracks and general signs of it being knackered.
Put some cardboard by the door to go into recycling.
Wiped down the shower room door, doorframe and the cats' purple plastic cabin of filth on the outside.
When Himself appeared from upstairs where he's been on the computer all afternoon/avoiding me because I'm cleaning, I mentioned that all that's left to do down here is scrub the countertops, a bit of washing up, clean the sink and hob and do the floors.
He put a cup of tea on the table and retreated upstairs as the washing machine began to fill - so he's put a washload on - the one I'd already collected and was sitting on the kitchen table.
I've been dawdling my way through all this, I'll do a quick wipeover of the upstairs bathroom and then I'm passing back to him (or more likely doing the remainder tomorrow morning).

I do like that video, Valli. We tend to loon around like that when we've had enough of the day to day anyhow, so there's conveniently never any filming of it. Well, we did until my main partner in silliness got himself a great job somewhere else to start in September. I can't imagine it happening quite so freely under the forthcoming year's staffing structure, somehow - but the kids seem to be getting the idea that it's not a bad thing to be silly sometimes, so perhaps I'll be able to surreptitiously encourage it...I'm thinking of a staff and student based Bohemian Rhapsody (probably more Muppet version than Queen, but it'll do for Christmas)
I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.Yup you are officially Rock n Roll0 -

Hi all
Just returned from a week in the sun, lots of sightseeing, eating, drinking and sunbathing. With all of DS1s health problems holidays have been a bit hit and miss for the past 10 years but he didnt want to come this year. This gave us the chance to spoil DS2 and for DS1 to have some time on his own at home. The holiday was amazing and I feel very rested. Lovely to arrive home to the kettle on and a clean and tidy house too.
So I have missed all the news and gossip, but will catch up next week x0 -
Morning all
Glad you had a fab time YL, I hope it has rejuvenated you xx

Morning
It's a balancing act: coping with the heat and lack of sleep (because it's too darned hot) + working full-time = less spoons? / same amount of spoons but used up quicker? Get it wrong and I have a nightmare of a Friday trying to work with complete brain fog. To get it right flying [STRIKE]has to go[/STRIKE] has been going out of the window
And I'm on budgie duty this week while friends are away - aviaries, not just one little Tweetie in a cage ( if it was I'd bring him here for the week) So careful preservation of spoons will be a must.
And breathe ....
I am tempted to tiptoe away and lurk under the wagon (like I did yesterday ... and last week... and the week before that) but I have no desire to turn back in to Humpty waddling around a hovel  So I've girded my loins (I don't even know what that means but it sounds like something I should do) and I've shown up for duty
I did manage WM x 3 yesterday but most days I've just put out the rubbish and fed/ watered the birds / plants .... despite that my nasturtium has given up and died - which is something the poinsettias are still refusing to do!!!
Round 1 =
1. Load WM
2. Get dressed
3, Recycle cans / plastic bottles (lots thereof)
4. Feed / water birds
Back later

Never read any of his but I Di like crime fiction!
Up at stupid o'clock (no surprise there) so I put another washload on and nipped out to peg out DDs work shirt as she'll likely be waitressing again today. Temp pt job while she's job searching. Also switched off DW and made a coffee.
I am representing my Union at Pride today...so that will be interesting. We have freebies. I don't know wha5 to wear and fully expect to be out-glammed anyway.Don't put it DOWN; put it AWAY"I would like more sisters, that the taking out of one, might not leave such stillness" Emily DickinsonJanice 1964-2016

Morning everyone.
Valli, have a great time at Pride, just be as colourful as you can.
Just me here this morning. DH is at work and the dogs are on their sleepover. I have watered the garden.
I need to wudupa, dust LR, change bedding, clean bathroom and hoover through. I need to prep food for a family get together later and will also get up to date with washing and maybe some more weeding.
Have a great day everyone.Spend less now, work less later.0 -
Morning all!
Leak got sorted. It was an old mains pipe that was supplying a now redundant tank in the centre attic. Lovely plumber fixed without too much fuss. I've now spotted a little drip somewhere else, but can manage that until they're back to install the sanitary fittings in the wet room....sigh....
Had a fun day yesterday finished off with an impromptu evening in a local-ish pub who had a music festival and three bouncy castles (sadly only for kids), which was nice.
Zero flying achieved since Wednesday due to lots of introduction sessions for dogs coming to board with me over the holidays. Two owners have already paid in advance and the first guest, a super soft beagle arrives 9am Monday morning! Eeek! This business is up and running!0
