Thank you, jwil 😁. Absolutely fantastic result with your big debt 🎉.

Another good day at work, the weather was beautiful too. Had to go and see the manager today and he told me various people have commented that they've noticed what a good job I've done since I have started, so that was really nice to hear 😁. Took DD back up after school as a new activity was opened today so she got to be the first to try it out, she said this place is so cool compared to where I used to work 😆.

My brother is back home today so hoping to catch up with him over the weekend as we really need to get some practise in again for the hike. We haven't had time to do any lately and having had the route map emailed, we definitely need to start getting out when we can.

Thank you, jwil 😊 I really was pleased about that.

Had a lovely weekend with my brother and family (no walking involved though, just talking about it 😂) was lovely weather so we all ate outside and had a few drinks.

This week is the busiest week at work since I've started but it's been good. Had to make some phone calls today, may not seem like a big deal to most people but I really dislike phoning people, always have done, but it was fine.

Budget for the month done and looking okay, with some savings. Did spend £50 on a present for my sisters birthday as its her 40th this week and I know she is going to love it. Was also supposed to be my other sisters wedding again this week, been postponed for the 3rd time until next year now.

Also booked DD's birthday day out. Not until December but it can sell out months before and wanted to go it booked as it was cancelled last year as her birthday was on the last day of the lockdown, and she still wants to go this year. After DS's birthday trip being a bit rubbish because of the weather, my brother took him back the other week and bought them fast track tickets and they had a fab day out 😁.

Hi all. Hope everyone is well.

Still loving my new job. It got very busy in the run up to the holidays, but is quieter now until September. Works perfectly for me that term time is busier so can just do my contracted hours in the holidays, plus DD can come with me when needed.

DD broke up last Friday but unfortunately we haven't done anything exciting yet as I have not been very well. Started to feel bad with migraines during the heat wave and then got very bunged up and didnt sleep for 3 whole days, it was awful. Finally feeling like I'm over the worse of it though. Least we have had the Olympics to watch. We are huge fans of the Olympics and this is the first time DD has really been old enough to get involved in watching and she is loving it too. Did treat her to a team GB t-shirt as she's been very patient and helpful whilst I have been pretty useless lately. It is our plan to go to Paris 2024. We had planned on going in London 2012 but I was pregnant with DD and wasn't well enough. Team GB are doing amazing 🇬🇧.

Feeling sorry for DS. It didn't work out with his job. Was odd. They offered him the job, they said his personal references were good, waited for his DBS to come back - that was fine. Then they blanked him, he has not been able to get a response from them at all. It totally bummed him out. He's applied for quite a lot of others and had a trial shift at another place this week, but hasn't heard from that either. He is definitely willing to get out and do something though which is good. He has applied for a part time college course (1 day a week) in September too. Hopefully something will come up for him soon.

Not got anything planned as such for the holidays. Renewed my parking pass today (£40) as mine runs out on Saturday, so plenty of free days out with that. Hoping to catch up with friends and family and would really love to go see my Nan at some point, even if it's just for the day, although it's a 7hr round trip so may see if we can afford a hotel for the night.

DD is kitted out ready for September (with the help of some money off my parents) glad that's all sorted and I don't have to worry about it. Savings are non existent at the moment, everything is just costing so much more lately and we really need to rein in the food shop spends!

Will try and get on more often. Take care everyone.

I agree - a sleepless night is terrible, but watching the Olympics live is a great consolation

I've noticed on a few people's diaries that June July have been super spendy, partly out of rising costs and partly out of seeking a little relief / R&R.

DS experience with the job market is pretty typical, there is an attitude of casual disregard for young people in a lot of employers.  Although you sound lucky with yours - that was a good decision

Paris 2024 sounds like a great plan and something to really look forward, and pre-teen is a great age to go.
I think I saw you in an ice cream parlour

Lovely to hear from you again.  Sorry about DS's job, people are so rude!  Hope he finds something soon.

Hi Robin :) Glad you're feeling better. That's just downright rude of them not to get back to DS. I don't get how people can treat youngsters like that. Fingers crossed something will come along for him. Paris is definitely something to look forward to. x

How frustrating about the job for Ds. My son has an interview this week at the same place the girl works. She is well thought of so I think he has the interview because of her recommendation, but he is pretty sensible and has a year of voluntary work in a charity shop behind him. I hope he gets it, both of them working will be a huge help and gets them used to budgeting a wage and saving. The girl earns approximately £600 a month, she saves a third of it, and for a 17yr old she is doing well with money. Helps this job pays above the minimum wage too. But it is fast paced and can be pretty stressful (I worked for the same company for years in my early 20's)

Hope something comes up for your son soon.

I also missed out on seeing anything live in London 2012 due to being pregnant and then having a very all baby. Didn't think about maybe doing Paris..... I did ensure the big two saw the torch when I came through our town, a friend took them, and they got to hold the torch at brownies/beavers too, I am glad they got to have those memories. I spent most of that Olympics stuck on the sofa feeding a very demanding baby 🙄
