    Hi and thank you everyone.

I am really happy to have been offered the new job and my dbs check is half way completed, but will just have to wait and see if it will be ready for me to begin at the beginning of next month.

It has been mixed emotions over the last week. I have been in work everyday helping out the new people. I have made it clear that I will be leaving once my checks are back but still feel guilty that I am leaving them without someone to take my place, even though I know that it is not my fault. I have never planned on staying once it had sold (was never even a guarantee it would sell as a business). The place is special to me, but not as special as those I worked for and I knew I would want to move on when they did. The new people are lovely, but very new to how the business works and I'm the only one left who can help and although I keep making it perfectly clear that I appreciate the offer and will help where I can, they still keep saying they don't want to advertise my position 🤷‍♀️😭 but keep saying they don't know what they will do. A small part of me has been tempted to stay as it's what I know but I am so excited to start something new, although a similar job it will be completely different.

DS had his interview and did a trial shift yesterday, they said he did very well. There are others to see first but he will know by Monday. He was so nervous but he really enjoyed doing it once he got there, and gave him a bit of a confidence boost.

DD got sent home Monday because she started coughing, lots going around but guidelines said she had to come home and be tested. We have all been testing just in case and all negative and she's been back in school. Also sickness bugs going around, can't cope with that 😨. DH has his first vaccine booked in for next week.

DH has done a fab job in the bathroom, although thought he was going to rip the sink of the wall today after struggling for 3 days to get the hot tap off to replace it 😆 he finally managed it today though.

Hope everyone has a lovely weekend.

Robin - only you can know what is the best path for you, but please do think of what's best for yourself not others. TBH if the new people won't look at advertising a job when there are hundreds of people looking then that will be the worse for them, and their failure to act after their assumption about you proved wrong IS their problem not yours.  Obviously you are best for the role but no-one is indispensable, my advice to help would be to write down 10 bullet points for the 10-20 most important/unusual things they have to do and let them work out the rest.  Maybe offer some spare time when its the most important bit of the month (ie stock or invoicing or payroll - sorry don't know your details) - BUT make sure they pay for it - either as a retainer (they will quickly get the hang of it), or some double time (they will quickly get bored paying it).

I agree with Mark - do what's best for you and don't let anyone emotionally blackmail you into doing otherwise.

Well done to DS, hope he gets a good result, but at least he gave it a go and had a good boost from it.

Thanks again all, I really appreciate it.

I know I definitely do not want to stay there. I have been in everyday helping them and will be glad to leave there now. I had prepared myself for leaving and now I just feel stuck there and honestly I'm getting fed up of going in. I did however agree with them a better hourly rate for these couple of weeks. My DBS check still isn't complete so not sure if I will be starting at the new place next week now. I think I will continue to work up until this Sunday, and if I do not start at the new place next week, I can enjoy half term with the DC.

I did have a bonus off my boss so I finished paying back MIL so her £1500 is now paid off completely and I paid off one of the smaller debts. We now owe just over £3100. Over £2000 is to the biggest creditor so going to aim to clear the 3 smaller ones over the next few months.

DS got offered the job 🎉 I am so pleased for him as it is at the lovely local craft village that employ and support people with disabilities and/or mental health issues. Unfortunately he will be leaving education, not really what I wanted but he hasn't been happy there for a while and know this is what he wants. Fortunately he does have a love for learning, so he has already looked on online courses he can do.

I entered DD into a local charity raffle on the weekend and she won £100 to spend on toys 😁 she doesn't really play with toys so she ordered a bigger paddling pool, 3 books and a puzzle. I did spend some extra to buy the pool cover and pump for it. She is so pleased and just hoping for some nicer weather. The rain has been relentless.

Caught up with BF and my sisters over the weekend 😁 and been helping my SIL when I can. My brother has gone back to working away a week at a time and I remember how hard it was when DH did that when DD was born, was easier for me though as DS was 8 and was more independent. She's doing it with a newborn and a 4yr old, I am just happy that they are now close by so I am able to offer help.

Congratulations on the job for your son. Academia isn't for everyone, and I think people really underestimate the life skills that come from working. And online learning is so much more accessible these days, so it all sounds promising.

@Robin09 is probably mad busy trying to keep all the balls in the air AND all the plates spinning AND enjoying the weather (not today!!).  I hope you are happy with whatever conclusions came from your various endeavours.
