The cheesecake tasted as amazing as it looked. Much to big for us all though so have door dropped some off to my brother.DD has been very tearful and frustrated this week so we had the day off yesterday from her school work and just did what she wanted and she is happier today. We caught up on some of the work today but I'm not stressing her over it.Had to go to the doctors surgery today for a check up with the nurse. I had rang last week to get a repeat prescription and was told that was fine but then had a message to say I had to have a yearly check up to get it, thought I had got away with it 😆 quickly in and out though, few questions and blood pressure checked and I was out of there. We paid the debt off, sad to see all the empty pots so my aim is to build them back up.SPC 0764

Wish I lived closer, I'd have helped with the cheesecake
Well done on paying the debt.3 -
Nearly another week over, I actually think considering that most days feel the same, this year already seems to be going by fast.Budget for the month is quite tight, the bad weather plus restrictions put DH's hours down quite a bit last month but can't complain. No council tax this month so £179 put into a separate pot for the MOT this month, which DH is hopeful will pass so hopefully will be able to add any leftovers to the savings pots. Have upped the shopping budget as definitely feel it creeping up, would rather not spend it all but we shall see. Slowly starting the saving pots again (with a new one added this week, see below) only with small amounts but it's a start.DS has been researching University courses and it's made me feel very emotional for various reasons this week.1. I feel fed up that we have never been in the position to save for this.2. The thought of him leaving feels totally unreal.3. Not long ago, I honestly didn't know if we would make it to this point. His mental health was so bad and to see him looking forward to his future is the best feeling ever but also leaves me feeling anxious that it's coming around too quickly.I know we won't be able to contribute much but going to try and save as much as we can to support him. Wish we had started sooner but can't change it now.Other news. I am booked in for my covid vaccination next week. Was not expecting it this soon but my doctor surgery said it had finished vaccinating the over 75's and vulnerable who wanted the vaccine. The local hospital my sister works at for now is covid free for the first time in ages 🎉.Had letter to confirm account has been closed on the debt we settled on and will be marked as partially settled. £900/£1500 now paid back to MIL.My nephew got the job he's been working so hard for (Bank management) so very proud of him. He was the youngest by over 15 years (he's 22) to apply for this position and to make it to the final interview stage so he's made up that all his training and long hours have paid off.My brother, sister in law and nephew have been self isolating this week so have done some shopping for them and door dropped it off. All tests came back negative so must have been a bug nephew picked up at nursery to make them feel poorly. The rain seems never-ending, cannot wait for spring. Missing everyone so much, think this has been the longest I haven't seen BF for in 20 years. My birthday soon, think I'm more excited for pancake day. No weight loss yet 😆 but haven't put any on either so that's a bonus I guess.SPC 0763

that's brightened my day to see so much good news in one post.
with Uni - it can cost a lot, but all I would do is ask your DS to try and find a Uni where accommodation isnt too expensive. DD1 and DD2 were different by £3k a year just on rent so if he can live with choosing a course at a Uni that isn't London/Brighton/... level of expensive it will go better for all of your pockets. Also if its a totally in demand town the LL will be sharks whereas if there is surplus of properties to students he's likely to get a better deal in terms of rent and utilities and behaviours. I would recommend trying for halls of residence in the first year as it was very stressful for DD2 who had to live out with randoms in year 1. Also recommend that if possible DS works full time during holidays rather than part time during term time. But you got to do what you got to do.I think I saw you in an ice cream parlour

Some very good news there Robin 🙂.
It's very positive that DS wants to be at school and is making plans for uni 🙂. I would recommend uni accomodation in the first year too as they are more 'looked after' and often actually on the campus. You will miss him. My DS3 is in his third year and I still cry every time he goes back after a holiday 😥, but it's what he wants and I'm glad he's happy there. I felt guilty too at not being able to help my DS with finances at uni, but he is very self sufficient now and sensible with his spending.
I'm glad the school work for DD is getting easier. The teachers only had one weekend to plan all the online learning, as well as face to face teaching of key worker and vulnerable children, so I guess there was bound to be some teething problems.

Thank you all 😁.DS has found a course at Bristol University that interests him (statistical maths degree). He will likely move as job opportunities will be far greater there but if he does get a space there, it isn't far from home either.Have enjoyed having some time off home schooling. Rain still hasn't stopped 🙄 but have been out sorting the garden out as much as I can and sorted the shed and greenhouse again as can't stand this house somedays. Been taking DD out on her bike most days but today she fell off pretty bad, bent the wheel arch out a place and hurt herself 😔.Vaccination was fine. Got the Pfizer vaccine. Was in and out within 20 minutes, including a 15 minute wait time after the jab.My birthday today. Have had some lovely presents and have seen a few family and friends who have knocked at the door and left cards and presents 😁. Got three bottles of malibu so will definitely enjoy a glass or two this evening.Hope everyone is well.SPC 0763

Looking at uni courses is really hitting home how old my baby girl is 😱 she is looking at creative arts course so way different from maths! Although she is keen to take a year out and spend it working and building up savings. Looking at the uni experiences of current students I don't blame her, I know it will possibly be a lot better next September, but I am not convinced there will be traditional open days this year which will make choosing harder. On paper I would never have chosen the uni I went to, but at the open day I was won over. I really feel for them all right now and feel the under 25's have had a bad deal with this pandemic.

I forgot we are birthday twins! Happy belated birthday. Glad you had a good day
Congrats to DS on finding a good course, and hope DD is ok. Glad you've had your jab"Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". Eoin McGee2
