That is really nice that you celebrated with your DD 😊. I really hope she gets the grades she wants. DS has never done well under the pressure of exams, so I wonder how these last couple of months would have gone, if things didn't happen as they did. He's a smart lad but has really struggled the last few years so we are not sure at all what his grades will be.

DD took a long time to figure out riding her bike. I remember DS learnt in one afternoon, when he was about 6, but it took months and a lot of tears for DD to finally get going without decking it every 10 seconds 🙈. She found it very frustrating but glad she didn't give up. My niece is 21 and still won't get on a bike. I remember failing my cycling proficiency test at school and crying in the toilets 🤣.

Another bit of good news is that my brother is looking to move back. He moved when he was 19 and I've always missed having him close by, he didn't even go far, only across the bridge in Bristol 🤣 but will be so great to have him close by. Even better, they are hoping to buy a house around the corner and my nephew might attend the same school as DD. Fingers crossed 🤞

Great news about your brother. My brother lives across town and me and my sister are lucky to see him twice a year!

My 11yr old won't ever ride a bike. His gross motor skills are not good, but I thought the smallest would be fine. Unfortunately he has a huge fear of failure which hinders him I think.

Nice to hear from you Robin - I know what you mean about days being the same.  I am only working 5 days from 7, but I never know which 5 they are going to be, as I will chop and change to suit the weather and my chores.
I think I saw you in an ice cream parlour
Drinking milk shakes, cold and long

I am close to all of my siblings, but in particular my brother. DH has a huge family and they all live close by and he only sees some of his family at weddings or funerals. I have even met some of his nieces and nephews that he hasn't. To be fair, there are over 30 of them now 🤣.

I will admit that I felt a little bit of longing when he showed me the house the are hoping to buy. It's absolutely huge and gorgeous. But even though we are close, we live very different lives. They both have big careers and he can easily earn what we make combined in a month, in a week. But, jealousy is never a nice trait and I soon got over it. We have a nice home too, even if it's not big and fancy and we don't own it. We've just done things differently and I am genuinely really pleased for him that he left here at 19 after working as a bin man, to train in his field of work and be able to buy a half million pound house. Will just be amazing to have them close by 🤗.

Sorry Mark, I missed your last post. Yes, days and weeks are blurring into one. I am missing work and those I work with so much. I am in awe of those working from home with children. Between school and house work, playing countless games of uno everyday (dds favourite), I still find I run out of hours in the day. I cannot wait to have some proper routine back. Think it's 12 weeks since they left school? Days seem to rush by, but drag at the same time.

Thank you both 😊 even if they don't get this house, I know they want to be back in the area, and that's amazing 🥰.

I hear you on the days dragging and rushing. It's like when there is a newborn in the house.

Jealousy and envy are time wasting emotions. I get a stab sometimes when I am cleaning awesome houses, especially when it is a huge 4/5 bedroom house where a childless couple lives and we are a family of six in a three bedroom house! But we are lucky to own our own house and are now on a position to actually upsize if possible (of course right when the market is at its worst in a decade!) And even if we couldn't we are all healthy. My sister upsized last year and unfortunately are one of the couple's really impacted by this current problem. At least we don't have that worry, while our income has been compromised, and one of my jobs is uncertain, we are coping well.

Looking for the silver lining helps. Well most of the time anyway!

if house prices are hit (and I think the evidence shows minor disruption, but the feeling is this would take a year or so post virus to bottom out) then that's a good time to upsize, in that yes your house will be lower but the bigger one will be impacted by more ££££ even if the %age drop is the same.

you shouldn't rush in I think - and explore which type of house are going to be impacted more - I've seen a lot of thought that rural might get a boost as people look to leave cities - but I think city people won't move in the numbers being predicted

that's enough - this is the DF board not the house price board - but it is an interesting dilemma and I hope you work something out

I agree, I don't see taking a hit on our house as a problem as it is fed up the chain. But our house is the type that appeals to first time buyers and landlords so we shall see. I am happy to undercut others in order to get it sold. We can't do anything until September anyway.

Sorry Robin, highjacking your diary 😁
