We are now self isolating after DD woke up crying with aches and pains and high temperature. She has been truly miserable today 🙁.

My boss has said she will sort some sick pay out for me. I am officially a zero hour worker so yet again she's proving to be the best boss ever 😍. That lady is truly one of the nicest human beings I've ever had the pleasure of knowing. But DH is self employed and is panicking. I just feel there is no choice anymore, as we need to keep ourselves and others safe no matter what. We must be able to get help with rent etc, and they cannot have what we cannot go and earn if they want us to be sensible and stick to the restrictions. It is a hard one because we could be in for 14 days just because DD has a common cold, but we don't know that so it is what it is.

All exams are cancelled, really wonder what will happen with that in the long run, but sure we will find out soon enough. Need to try get some ink so I can print some work off for them both. Did order DD 11 workbooks (English, maths etc) today for £11 off an amazing local kids book store. DS has also told DD he will take this time to teach her French as she is always in awe of him talking a different language 🤣.

My sister did drop by today but didn't come in, to drop me off some sanitary products as I am close to running out and on amazon they are £10 a packet 😣 awful.

Thank you HHOD, sorry to hear your news :(.

Today I cried, quietly so the DC wouldn't hear. I was packing away DD's uniform that I got out ready Tuesday evening ready for school yesterday, it suddenly dawned on me that it will no longer fit her once this is all over. That they never got to say goodbye to their friends. DS may never see some of his friends or teachers/mentor again and who knows what will happen with the GCSE's or if he will ever go back to his school? Things are changing so quickly. Also the onslaught of emails from the schools that I have tried to keep up with all day. The realisation that they are both being homeschooled, by me 😫. Now luckily, both of the DC are clever kids but they definitely do not get their brains from me. I have spent most of today feeling overwhelmed. So I got busy and have turned the dining room into a 'classroom'. I will be okay once I get my head around it.

In between all of that my boss got in touch to say that they will likely be shutting soon enough as they have literally zero bookings for the next 6 months+. So for now, I no longer have a job. As I've said many times, she's an amazing boss and I know how much this will upset her to let me down but I've always been truly lucky to work for her and her family ❤️.

We will be okay, we have enough savings to pay the rent/council tax for a couple months. Spending will be down if we cannot go anywhere. I'm definitely feeling very thankful for everything we have right now and my thoughts are with those in need.

  • Oh dear I'm sorry Robin. So many people are suffering because of this.

I'll miss the children at school as I've seen them every day for two terms and most of them will be in a different year group next time I see them.

  • Robin, schools should be either providing work online or signposting you to websites that can help with resources.

sounds like your clouds have a big silver lining.  if you are home and not working from home I imagine you all could have a great family time, that might be healing after all you have been through.  Every garden benefits from love and attention (by which I mean labour) although personally I haven't tried it.  Sadly my job means I can WFH and can't quite make the most of it unless things shut down totally - which I doubt
I think I saw you in an ice cream parlour
Drinking milk shakes, cold and long
Smiling and waving and looking so fine
