Congrats to DS on sixth form!
Happy birthday to him for tomorrow as well. Hope you all have a lovely day xx"Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". Eoin McGee2 -
That's great news all my kids found 6th form was a real gamechanger, both with the teachers and the looser attitude in his peer group. Plus a lot of the n0bs have gone or chill out a bitI think I saw you in an ice cream parlour
Drinking milk shakes, cold and long
Smiling and waving and looking so fine3 -
Thank you bothDS had a lovely birthday. Our families all sent presents, cards and money. The video I made with DD of our family and friends wishing him a Happy Birthday actually made him cry! Think he realised how much he was missing everyone. He got some lovely gifts but his favourite are the Doc Martens my brother bought him, he's been eyeing them up for ages
, he's very pleased.
Within a few days of being offered a place, his sixth form sent home work for him to do. As it's his favourite subjects, he's been happy to start the work. His laptop still needs fixing, it's obviously a problem with the charging port as it turns off if it's moved so he's been very careful not to nudge it at all.One thing I've noticed lately. Ever since he was little, he was showing signs of OCD but definitely got worse over the last few years. Every morning before he left for school, he would have to go back up to his room at least twice to check it and count. It always seemed that he knew that even if he had a bad day, his room would be in order when he got home. He doesn't have what I would call the 'average' teenage bedroom. It's always been very neat and tidy and everything had its own place. Anyway, he's seemed a lot more chilled and happier again lately and I've noticed he's started not making his bed when he's up, a few items out of place on his shelves and on the floor. He's also started to eat breakfast again, same thing everyday, but he likes to eat it at his desk. All things he never did before. He just seems a lot calmer in himself. I hope it continues 🤞More good news, is that my sister is now home 😃 and is getting better everyday. Her partner and my niece are doing good. Such a relief they are all getting better.Apart from DS doing work sent home. School work has been a bit of a fail this week. DD just hasn't been that interested in the work sent home (mostly about a disney princess, she isn't a fan) did print her some worksheets off for some other stuff, but ran out of ink so had to order some more but not arrived yet. Some of the work being set is on websites that aren't compatible with her tablet, so do feel she's missing out quite a bit on that.Quite a shock for the local community the last couple of days is that there has been a horrific murder. Well from what has been said, the murder didn't happen around here but the body parts, yes parts 😱😱 were dumped in the area. Horrible!Hope everyone is well.SPC 0762 -
Hi Robin
You commented on my diary months ago and I bookmarked yours but hadn't got round to reading it. Just read the whole thing today.
Wow what a roller-coaster of a ride your ds has been on. My dd is now happy not to sit gcse's but she sobbed for days initially. After 5yrs of being told how much they mattered she found the removal of them heartbreaking, but I imagine there are others like youslr son who have found the removal of pressure beneficial to both mental and physical health.
You have a ragdoll cat, we are looking at getting two in a few months (the breeder I am in contact with has just had two litters) I have been doing tons of research and really think they will be a good fit for our family, just need to make that final decision and they are expensive! 😂
Loved reading about your theatre trips, I am missing it so much, we didn't have much planned due to gcse's but I was saving for kids week as it is the last year my dd can do it. And we also, like you, have Heathers booked, for September, but am sure that will be cancelled too.
Look forward to keeping up to date with your diary nowDebt free Feb 2021 🎉1 -
So pleased that things with DS are looking up
I've seen about the murder on the news, horrible"Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". Eoin McGee2 -
I'm also really pleased that your DS is feeling better
. Secondary school can be a bit brutal so he's obviously feeling more relaxed being at home. Hopefully he'll find the sixth form better, I know I did.
I wouldn't worry too much about DD's school work as the school will go over everything again when she goes back. The schools know that parents can only do so much. Finally Debt Free After 34 Years, But Still Need to Live Frugally

Hi drawingaline, wow to reading it all in one go! It really has been a roller-coaster with DS, he has had a rough years
. Our ragdoll is one now, but seems like she's been part of the family for a lot longer. We originally got her for DS as a sort of therapy pet, as read how loving the breed can be. When we went to look at the litter, none of the others were interested in him, but she wouldn't leave him alone and is still the same today
. We thought at first, that she was a male cat so DS named her Seymour, he then renamed her Audrey due to his love of the theatre 🤣. We are missing the theatre too. Was due to go on DS's birthday, a show next week and Heathers in July. Hoping to book School of Rock next year 😊.
Thank you, Jwil. Yes, a horrible thing to happen. Quite a few years ago now but a similar thing happened at pretty much the same spot. Madness!Thank you HHOD, oh I really do hope he settles at Sixth Form, he definitely seems keen to go and learn the subjects he enjoys. DD's school have been great, we have daily messages off her teacher and on the days DD hasn't been fussed on the work sent home, they have been fine and said to find something she would prefer to do. Which is either art or athletics. Pretty much every day she says 'I am doing school work, I am doing PE' 😂.SPC 0763 -
Hope everyone had a nice weekend. I have had a bit of a ear ache which has been making me a bit miserable 😒Told DD that we could sleep downstairs for a film night and to watch BGT, had to move some of the furniture to fit the air bed in and got it all set up, then realised it was still only Friday 🤣 she kept me to my promise so we stayed down on Saturday night too, she really enjoyed it though.Filled the pool up today, as it is going to get so warm. Annoyingly though, is that when it goes up, I cannot hang the washing out as our line is a retractable across the patio. Like the pool to go there though as the awning can give her shade. It took hours to fill it up, and DS decided to jump in fully clothed 😆.Took DD for a drive yesterday, she hasn't been in the car for over 9 weeks and asked if we could. It was my nieces 21st birthday, so we left her present outside and said hello as we sat in the car and then did a long detour back home. Simple things, but she was really happy to go for a drive and to listen to the radio. It did seem very busy out. Especially at the local bike hire business.SPC 0764

Hi everyone,Been a while, I read the diaries daily, but haven't really had a lot to say. Everyday is very samey at the moment.Today should have been my sisters wedding. A big family wedding at the local castle, would have been a great day. Left some flowers and wine at her door. It has been rearranged to next July now, so a while for them to wait but at least they have all recovered from covid 19. She has even started short shifts back at the hospital. Will be an even bigger celebration when it comes around. Today would have also been DS's last GCSE, so next year he will actually be able to attend the ceremony.Seem to be busy most days, but don't seem to get a whole lot done. Started to redecorate the kitchen but seems to be taking ages, considering it's a tiny kitchen. Seem to get distracted easily and start something else or DD wants help or to play a game. We ordered a new kitchen floor and DH will hopefully be fitting it this weekend. We have lived here nearly 7 years now and I have hated the current floor since the day we moved in, so excited that it's finally going 😁.Selfishly I'm kind of glad that DD hasn't been able to go back to school yet, I would be insanely bored without her, she keeps me busy and amused everyday. Unless I go sit in his room, I usually only see DS when he is hungry 🤣.We kept getting lots of calls off one of our creditors, turns out I forgot to pay our token payment one month, oops. My mistake, I had paid everyone else and thought I had sent it. The payment plan is set up again now, so no big issue and will make sure I don't do it again.Hoping to get out this weekend for a long walk with DD, I miss having the car as DH now uses it for work. Know lots of quiet spots around but not in walking distance. Forecast a big storm overnight but meant to be warm again tomorrow. Hoping to take her bike as she hasn't been on many rides since she learnt to ride without her stabilisers.Hope everyone has a lovely weekend.SPC 0763

Today would have been my girls last GCSE exam too. We 'celebrated' with take away from the golden arches, her favourite. First one since her 16th birthday in march. It's been tough for her as she was someone who would have flourished with her exams, so much hard work gone. But she is looking forward now to the next chapter.
And I am beginning to think that my 8yrold won't be able to ride a bike. As someone who has overall amazing gross motor skills he just can't seem to naturally shift his weight as he peddles.Debt free Feb 2021 🎉3
