    Thankyou BB50 :)

Another week whizzed by! I'm usually one of those saying how January is the longest month ever but I can't believe how quick this month has gone.

DS is more settled now exams are out of the way, won't be long until there is more though. Will be still trying to help him find ways to cope through the anxiety/panic attacks. He has however lost all his drama coursework  his drama teacher is also his mentor and has said he will help him start it again. It's a shame as he's worked hard on it and his performance should be graded well. But at the end of the day, I'm just hoping he will pass his core subjects. He also needs to take responsibility and learn not to keep losing stuff.

Been a busy week and quite a few spends :o. DH had his birthday on the weekend. Just got him one present, as that's all he really wanted but still felt bad, as we didn't do Christmas presents this year either. DS did make him a nice cake and DD as always made him cards (5 to be exact :D).

We went and climbed Sugarloaf. Thought the walk would do us all good, I was wrong :rotfl: the fog got real bad and we took a wrong turn on the way back down and did loops for over 2 hours before coming to the bottom of another hill with 2 miles back up to the car park. DS was barely talking to us, he was in such a strop :silenced: I stuck with DD, as she was happy enough, but has requested we go back when we can actually see something :rotfl:

Also spent a long day in Birmingham with best friend. Her DD was taking part in a concert so we went with the school, the children got dropped off for rehearsals and we got taken off to the shopping centre before going back to watch the performance. We had lunch out and did a bit of shopping and the show was great.

Have spent quite a bit on train tickets this week. For tomorrow, as off to the theatre with DS, got him tickets for Christmas. Also booked for next week to Cardiff as DS had his appointment through, which thankfully is funded.

Sat down and did a rough budget for February but then my sister text today to say her hen do is now next month instead of April! So will have to fit some money in for that and I'm not kidding when I say I have literally nothing to wear for a night out, it's in two weeks  I do have some money saved in her wedding pot, but don't really want to touch that if I can help it.

Sounds like a pretty good January, well done :T

How about a mooch around the charity shops, see if you can get a bargain for the Hen do? Loads of people have been clearing out in January, there might be some gems.

We had the same idea Jwil :) me and DD went around the charity shops this morning. Got trousers, a top and a bag. Did treat myself to a new pair of boots in Dorothy P's though that were in the sale so I have a whole outfit sorted for just under £30 :j. DD got an absolutely beautiful Monsoon party dress for £1.99 that she will wear to the wedding evening do. She is a bridesmaid so has a dress already but wanted a spare for the evening just in case, as at my brothers wedding her dress got wrecked when she ripped through it falling over, although she was a lot younger then. Either way it's a lovely dress for other events and a absolute bargain :)

Last nights show was amazing. Went to see SIX with DS. We both really enjoyed it. DD loves the soundtrack but wasn't able to come this time due to age restrictions. But have tickets for Shrek the musical with her in May and DS has tickets for The Heather's that my parents bought him for June :) we do love the theatre, expensive though :o.

We did catch a taxi back (£6) to the train last night as we would have been waiting for over a hour for the next train otherwise. We did walk the 30 minutes into town when we got there though and DS had some Christmas vouchers left so got a few tops. Also there was gloves, wooly hats etc reduced down to £1 each so we picked up a few each for a local charity we like to support who help the homeless.

Glad it's our month off paying council tax to cover some of the extra expenses. Next month's always covers DS's birthday.

Last week flew by again. Was here, there and everywhere with work, meetings, clubs etc. Have got more meetings this week that I am actually dreading so much, but haven't got much choice in the matter.

DD had a party to go to yesterday, was an early one so was there and back before the storm really kicked in. Lots of local roads were getting shut due to trees down and flooding. Very wet and windy out there today too.

DS has an appointment at the opticians after school today for eye test and to pick new glasses, as his frame is breaking. Hadn't budgeted in anything for them as he's not due yet. But I always tell them not to tell him the prices etc as I just want him to be happy with the pair he chooses as he wears them all the time. Sometimes he picks the free ones anyway. Will soon find out. The free ones are definitely nicer than when I used to get them 😆

We got DS's mock results last week. He missed quite a few of them so they were obviously ungraded but he got a 4 and two 6's and a 7. That was not a good week at all, so it's great he got any 6/7s at all. He was surprised but still not happy as he didn't reach any of his targets on them. He's so hard on himself 😦. I was thinking Kalms, rescue remedy possibly for his actual exams, but I'm not sure that's a good idea?

New layout on here is quite confusing but think I'm getting the hang of it. Annoying I can't see any dates though, even if I turn my phone to landscape. Even managed to put a photo on my profile, which I could never do before.

Because I had to budget in a very last minute hen do, I didn't have any to put away for the half term week. I wasn't too worried as it's only a week and we would catch up with friends anyway plus will have work. But my parents turned up with £100 and said the DC could pick a day out each. DS chose to get tickets for The Book of Mormon, very excited about that one. DD however chose to go proper caving  😱😲 I have done it before with DS and can't say I enjoyed it, even less so this time as I know what to expect. She is so exited though as she has been waiting for so long to be old enough to go.

Just googled your DS's results - they are fab considering what he's been through!  He should be very proud.  I'd give Kalms or Rescue remedy a go,  there's no harm in it unless he's on meds, in which case it's best to check.
Great news about half term activities!

Thanks Jwil. DS was surprised with his results but still focused on the fact that he didn't meet targets :(. He won't even talk about his GCSE's at the moment. He's doing lots of revision, booster lessons etc but if we bring it up he walks away or changes the subject. He is on medication, which is why I wasn't sure if Kalms/RR would be suitable, but he has an appointment on Monday so will ask their opinion.

This week has actually dragged by so slowly, think we are all ready for the half term. DS picked a lovely new pair of glasses, had to top up £30 so very reasonable. The meeting I was dreading never happened, but will be at some point ☹️. I had an appointment with the nurse for my smear, a necessary evil but definitely happy to get it out of the way. My blood pressure was checked whilst I was there and is pretty high, not surprising but unusual for me so I finally have a doctors appointment booked for myself.

My niece sent a message out this week saying we should all dress up for my sisters hen do 🙄 I politely told her to kiss my a** 😂 I have my outfit and I'm sticking with it. I do think storm Dennis might change the plans anyway as the trains will probably be cancelled.

I hope you had a lovely time at the hen night if it was this weekend.  I don't blame you for saying that, I do not 'do' dressing up  :D
Hope the doctor's appointment goes well, glad you are looking after yourself too x

Thanks Jwil. Yes it was the hen do this weekend. It was fine. Would have been better if it had been rearranged. My sister works in the hospital and they've all been wiped out this week with a bug 🤢 so quite a few couldn't come and my sister kept saying she felt sick 😷. She missed the train so I went to meet my sister in law, who was travelling on her own whilst the others waited. Then slowly but surely all the trains back started to get cancelled, so we ended up having to catch the train at 9 o'clock 😆 we was warned it might not actually get us back, but luckily it did although the rain was leaking through the train roof. Ah well, least I can say I went and was back home asleep by half 10 🤣.

The storm has hit us bad, most roads are impassable due to floods and trees down. Houses down the road have had the rescue boats to get them out of their houses. It's still absolutely torrential out there and more warnings for the coming days 😖. DS has an appointment booked for tomorrow but all trains are still cancelled and at the moment all roads are shut so doubt we will be able to get there.

Had some lovely birthday presents so far off my family and friends who won't see me tomorrow. Lots of nice gifts, money and chocs. Best friend has bought me a family heritage pass, will be great for some free days out 😃

Jwil, I haven't forgotten we are birthday twins 🤗 hope you have a lovely day tomorrow 🎁🎊.
