Glad you had a good holiday.
That's an amazing amount on the sealed pot :T"Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". Eoin McGee0 -
Thanks Jwil
Have had a full house this morning as my brother was over with my nephew as it was his birthday the other day, so other family turned up here to see him too. He loved his scooter I bought him and was whizzing all over the place.
Spent some money booking tickets for Me, DD, nephew and sister in law to see santa next month. Sister in law paid her share back over straight away. It's expensive at £28 for the two of us but it's the best one around and in the caves, which is one of DD's favourite places to go and they really do an amazing Christmas experience. DD has always throught the idea of santa to be absolutely ridiculous and this year knows the truth as DS told her (he wasn't being horrible but she wouldn't stop asking) she was not bothered in the slightest as her list of her favourite things about Christmas didn't even include santa or the presentsshe was quite glad to be proved right :rotfl: regardless, she still cannot wait to go to the caves.
Was going to go the fireworks last night but when it came to it, none of us were really that bothered and surprisingly DS was doing revision for his mocks :j so we stayed in and I put the £15 budgeted into the new washing machine pot.SPC 0760 -
So the washing machine didn't hang on in there, literally fell apart inside  DH went and picked up a new one today. £220 that we was nowhere near close to having but my parents kindly helped us with it. Said it is no rush to repay it, but will be getting that paid back as soon as we can.
DD has had a bump to her head at school. Big lump, graze and the bruise is going to be a big one above her eye. Another child fell on her and she hit the playground floor. All checked over and she's fine.
Went to the fireworks tonight with DD. We don't usually go out to this display as we can see it from our house but she wanted to go and had some spending money leftover from holiday so enjoyed a fair ride and a bag of sweets. She enjoyed going out but was a late night and we are out tomorrow tooWish DS would have come but he never wants to go anywhere anymore

Sorry to hear about the washing machine, there's always something!
Is there any scope for encouraging DS to come out with you? I know that I never want to go anywhere when I'm anxious and my doc said to ensure I forced myself to go out. I know it's a fine line between encouraging and making things worse though."Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". Thanks Jwil. DS actually went on his school trip yesterday and I wasn't sure if he was actually going to go or not. But it was to the theatre, which he loves and I think that's what pushed him into actually getting on the bus and he was glad he went as he really enjoyed the play. He is also looking forward to our trip to London this month to see one of his favourite musicals.
He did have a rough day Bonfire night which is one of the reasons he wouldn't come out, DH stayed home with him and said he didn't even get up to watch them as he does every yearhe had a maths mock that day and he panicked and didn't finish the paper even though he said he knew the answers. His teacher has said she is now thinking of putting him in the foundation group which will mean the highest grade he will get is a 5. He's absolutely gutted about this as he's in advanced maths and it's by far is favourite subject. Will be talking to his teacher about the possibility of him trying again. He definitely has a issue of taking exams though, which is something we are trying to work on before GCSEs next year.
Just really saddens me that a few years ago he was here, there and everywhere with friends and on trips, even to Europe for 12 days with Scouts and now it's hard to get him out of bed most daysI also have to give him a lift to school everyday as he is so exhausted where he's not sleeping well. Poor boy
Went to my brothers last night with DD for my nephews birthday, was lovely to see everyone apart from my one sister who had to work, but caught up with her today. DH stayed home to pick DS up from his trip so we went over with my other sister. Was late back so DD definitely needs a early night tonight.
In other news, there isnt much. Love my new fancy washing machine. Work has been busy but was late in yesterday because I had DD's harvest festival to go to. Spends have been donation for the harvest festival, poppy appeal and a toy for the local toy appeal. Oh also DD's payment for toast at school which she hasn't had all week because they said she isn't on the list  I double checked and had the email receipt and payment has been taken so will check tomorrow that she can have it, she loves her mid morning toast break :rotfl:

That's great that DS managed to go on his trip and enjoyed it.
That's awful about the maths, I really hope you can speak to the teacher and persuade them to let him stay where he is."Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". Eoin McGee0 -
Thanks Jwil. I have spoke to his teacher and she won't be putting him down. But I've tried to make it clear to DS that regardless of what grade he's going for, he's not going to get it if he doesn't finish the exams. He's agreed to try special measures in the January mocks to see if it helps. His words were 'I just want to be a normal human who can take an exam without freaking out'
and didn't like the idea of needing extra help with it but I'm glad he's going to give it a go. I have an appointment tomorrow at the school, requested by his teacher for missing work. This is philosophy and ethics and whilst I'd love for him to catch up, I would much prefer he concentrates on the core subjects. One issue is most of the teachers do not know the problems he's had the last couple of years, just thinks he's got bad attendance and missing work
Saturday I started work early to be back to take DD to a birthday party, she had a great time and DS text me when I was there to ask if he could have a friend over, was so pleased as he's not invited anyone over for ages. Never again will I moan that his friends are always over.
Yesterday we went to remembrance parade and then stayed in for the rest of the day.
Paid the token payments to all of the creditors. Cabots have still not replied as such but we had a payment card sent through the post but nothing on it saying they accept/reject the offer? Paid them anyway.SPC 0760 -

Glad he's not being put down. I don't know many people that don't get freaked out about exams and there is absolutely no shame in getting extra support to get through them.
Would he consider doing some 'mock' exams? Maybe just getting some past papers and sitting him in a quiet room timed would help him get used to the situation. Even if you don't worry about 'marking' them, just get him used to sitting down, reading the question, writing 'something' - doesn't matter if it's right, and sticking to the time limit."Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". Eoin McGee0 -
Received a letter from Cabots accepting the token payment. So all creditors have accepted now. Going to take us a while to catch up with ourselves and rebuild any savings or pay any extra off the debt. Glad I still have some put by for Christmas and DD's birthday is all sorted.
But, some stuff has happened and is likely to get worse before it gets any better so I'm going to take a step back from posting on my diary for the time being. Take care everyone and I will still pop in to read all the diaries as this place has been a huge help to me.
