Hope you are feeling a bit happier today. You'll soon be in the 14s anyway x"Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". Eoin McGee0

Thanks Jwil. Everyone slept better last night, was a lot cooler which helped.
Felt a bit cheeky doing it but my nephews GF bought me a gift set at Christmas, was very grateful to receive anything but wasn't my sort of thing so has been sat unopened in the cupboard, well yesterday I saw a recall notice on it, so after work today I popped and they gave me a £14 cash refund:D did spend £2 of it on some more painkillers for DH. Also dropped off some bags at the charity shop and came home and cleaned around DH. Only other spend today was £1 for athletics.
Stepchange has been put on hold until September. DH keeps swinging between going back next week once he's had his stitches out, to actually following the doctors advice. I think he should definitely have the time off incase he does more damage, but he will do what he will want to and he's incredibly bored. He thinks he will be able to get jobs done one handed, we will see.SPC 0760 -
Must be so frustrating for him if he's used to being busy and active. It's good that you can have that option to defer/reduce payments to Stepchange .paydbx2025 #26 £890/£5000 . Mortgage start £148k June 23 - now £138k.

Hi
For far too long my partner and I to a lesser degree have not got to grips with the debt situation we our in
I have been so encouraged by the diary entries, and feel I have the confidence to negotiate with my own creditors for a full and final offer payment.
Yes I agree weekly shopping seems to work for us. Making a list and sticking to it also goes a long way. Looking at what you need and not what you want is tough but it has started to pay off0 -
Yes HSL, he's not one to sit still and he's getting very fed up not being able to do any work or his hobbies or even do most basic things for now. Feel sorry for him as he's very restless. Least he has my dad's Netflix details :rotfl:
Hi Jvat, good luck with you full and final offers. I would like to do that at some point in the future. Yes I agree weekly meal planning and shopping work well for us too. We also have it delivered so rarely go over budget.
Popped to see my sister after work today, she liked her birthday gift, didn't stay long as she had others turning up. Did have spends today. I have been keeping an eye on train prices for mine and DSs trip to London, been £100+ for weeks. Today they had gone down and with my train pass I managed to book two return tickets for £51.25 :T I had just over £30 saved for this so will need to make up the difference from elsewhere, glad it's one less thing to think about though.
Been doing some sums and we should be okay for two months if DH doesn't go back to work soon, the doctor is recommending 3 months off, but I don't think he will last that long at home. After two months, we will not have nothing left though but will have to sort something if needs must.SPC 0760 -
DD had a school performance today, she did really well with her speaking parts
afterwards I dropped DH into town for a bit of pampering :rotfl: a hair cut and beard trim, as he can't do it himself, he felt better for it so that's good
I had to go to work so his sister popped him home. DS had an appointment after school his his private counseller, so paid for that today too.
Did have a refund of £25 today, DS changed his mind of one of the bits of clothing he bought so that's covered the difference for the train tickets yesterday.SPC 0760 -
Got my one year badge today
in the past year we have been sticking to budget more often that not, had some nice days out and saved money (although likely to be cleared out and will need to start again) and paid £2580 towards the debt. Rather annoyingly, after double checking the statements, this months payment would have tipped us into the 15's and not 14's as I had in my mind, must have been wishful thinking   our debt stands at £16,112. Which means we are at 45% paid, if I'm right about that
DH was back to Bristol for physio again today, went well. He went out yesterday with his mum too, so has been glad to get out the house the last few days. He picked up DD from school as after work I popped to my mums to help sort her kitchen. What a load of rubbish she had in there, plus she's got a big kitchen so took hours to clean and sort through it all. She was very pleased though, will be easier for her to get to stuff now.
Hope everyone has a lovely weekend.SPC 0760 -
That's an amazing result for a year, well done :T"Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". Eoin McGee0

well done - it is important to look back and see the progress- day to day penny pinching can get a little dull!!
you are facing a bit of a challenge at the moment, but even there imagine how much worse it would have been
well done on helping your mum - everyone needs a bit of help now and again, and a bit of a shiny kitchen is always nice to come intoI think I saw you in an ice cream parlour
Drinking milk shakes, cold and long
Smiling and waving and looking so fine0 -
Thank you both, I'm pleased with what we've done this year. We haven't paid off as much as previous years but DH now works locally and I'd rather that than paying more and for him to work away again. Also pleased that we have savings that will cover us now he is injured, we would have been truly in trouble if that had happened a few years back.
After work, me and DD popped to the park for a community event that was going on. She took some of her own money from her money box so didn't cost me much. We spent a few hours there and she enjoyed watching the bands and dancers, face painting and having a horse ride. She saw lots of her friends too. I also got to have a quick talk and my photo taken with John Challis, I'm a huge Only Fools and Horses fan so I was chuffedSPC 0760
