Welcome on board, Bridget. Just be warned though, this place is VERY addictive. I now have breakfast at the comp EVERY morning and felt totally bereft last weekend when the site was down for a few days - how sad is that!

Looking forward to reading your posts and ideas.

    Hi everyone!
Hugs to those who need them and a happy halloween/samhain to those who celebrate:beer:
Haven't been in for a few days as have been busy oldstyling at home but have finally got all my bulbs planted [I'm trying out the ones from Wilko this year as they seemed a good price...just have to see if they grow:rotfl: ] and we're well on the way to getting the yummy plaster effect we have in the kitchen off the walls. I've got the doors arriving on the 9th Nov and I've bought the paint with a 15% off voucher at homebase so am going to have to get a wriggle on!
Am exceedingly overexcited at the prospect of our Halloween tea tonight.. am going to break out the tasty 50p spider earrings I bought off the market [always was one of the big spenders!!] for the occasion. OH and I have spent the last couple of evenings putting together some gorgeous delights for tonight's feast...we shall be munching our way through dead man's fingers, bats wings, witches brains, samhain wands, cheese straw halloween cats and halloween shaped biccies [I've got biscuit cutters] all washed down with witches' blood!! Naughty OH though has composted the pumpkin innards and seeds...cheeky devil waited until I was out doing the cub pickup and drop off!!
OS today has been dark wash, floors washed and probably an uggy pile of ironing this evening. Eating is the aforementioned tea!
    Have a great day.

Have done 2 loads in wm today and both dried on the line and airer - still avoiding using that td! Think I will HAVE to get another airer for the winter months though - the nice weather is obviously NOT going to hold out all the way till March. Also need some more of those airers to hang onto the radiators for when the heating is actually switched on.

Discovered that the landing bannister is THE best place to dry duvet covers (my king size one fits perfectly and gives off a lovely perfumed fragrance due to the fabric conditioner that I use:T!).

I really shouldn't be on here this afternoon - supposed to be working today :p - so coffee break over and back to work for another couple of hours!

    Afternoon all,

Welcome Bridget, this is a crazy site, but nice with it!

Haribo....who sent you my picture??? Loved Aussie's especially.

Hugs to all in pain of any kind to-day, and 'hello' to all those MIA.

Aril...you are obviously another Celt...not sure is anyone else uses the word .samhain.

Holloween ( or All Hallows Eve )was a time when ghosts were out and about and the Trick or Treat, house decoration etc. is, IMHO, an Americanisation of an ancient Celtic festival. Our children dressed up and went out accompanied by both parents....but only to both lots of grandparents and all the uncles and aunts ( at the time there were few others living around) The traditional gift was either apples or nuts or rarely, money. Like many other things in our current affluent society, the whole meaning and fun have given way to consumerism, something I deplore...I have been ranting about all the halloween stuff on sale in shops of all kinds...sorry for continuing here, finished now!

Going to DS3s to night for a Halloween meal...they don't live in the wilderness and will probably just have a few neighbours and family for a while.

Nothing much happening here, changed my bedlinen to-day and have washed it and it is presently drying....nice strong wind.

Shepherds pie for dinner...almost ready as OH likes to eat by 4...not sure what will happen when I go out later, will try not to eat.

Hope that you all have a nice evening

    Marie
